Chapter 4: Leave me alone

The scene in front of her was of pure chaos. The entire lands were disassembled with cracks appearing everywhere followed by a lengthy trail of dig-out mud as if a mountain had walked past it, leaving its mark on it.

The trees were wrecked, buildings were destroyed and nothing was there that was left unaffected. In the midst of all that, there was a big crater in front of Sophia, and inside that lay a man with black hair and torn-up clothes, his body facing the earth and his face hidden under his cloak.

Sophia felt a familiar presence from the man. The presence she had been searching for for years, the presence of her childhood friend, and the love of her life, Ravi.

She didn't waste any time and jumped inside the crater and rushed towards him.

When she reached him, Sophia's heart was racing and she was feeling many different emotions, she was joyful, a bit emotional, and eager to talk to him but she was feeling anxious as well because of how they were going to meet.

The moment they are going to meet was after a huge destruction which resulted in many casualties and the source of the problem was the man she was hoping to meet for many years. And that was not all, she was anxious for another reason, the way Ravi looked wasn't from the moment ago.

There were many stains of blood on his clothes which showed only two possibilities, one being he was attacked by the monsters and was severely injured and another being he killed many of the monsters or possibly people before he reached here.

But Sophia could feel his breathing so she heaved a sigh of relief. And as for whether he killed anyone, well she didn't care much about that but if he was attacked, then she would kill anyone who did that.

Sophia calmed her racing heart and a muffled voice escaped her mouth, "...vi."

Her voice was so small, even she couldn't hear it. So she tried again.

"Ravi." She called the name that she was dying to call every day and night.

But the man didn't speak. Sophia was a bit dejected but she still controlled herself. She waited 6 years for this moment, so she wasn't going to feel low over such a small thing but deep inside she wanted him to call her name, and embrace her so she could forget all of the loneliness she felt without him.

She took a step forward to touch him, there was a smoke of anticipation on her face and her hands were trembling.

But she was stopped midway by an invisible barrier around him. She froze for a second and tried to push harder. The barrier rippled but she wasn't able to push through it. So she tried with more and more force, but the result was the same. She even tried hitting it but nothing changed.

"Why isn't this breaking? Damn it." She was slowly losing herself now, her anxiety grew more as the time passed by. She waited for this moment for years but now she couldn't even touch him.

"Ravi, wake up. It's me, Sophia. Wake up please." She called him while continuously hitting the barrier but nothing changed.

After a few more hits, she couldn't contain herself and tears started to roll down from her eyes.

Even while crying, she pleaded with him to wake up, "Wake up Ravi, please!!"

But the man didn't move. Then Sophia heard a footstep approaching them and she knew who it was.

"What's happening here?" Brain asked.

He rushed here after he melted the ice which froze his left foot. It was very troublesome for him to melt the ice because he used hot water which he created from his power but when he poured the water it evaporated, then he realized it wasn't just ice but something else, luckily for him aura was able to melt it down faster.

Brain looked at his surroundings and was shocked and he focused his attention on the man inside a deep hole and Sophia sitting with her knee bent down beside him.

Brain immediately pulled out his pendant and was ready to attack the man.

Seeing him about to attack Ravi, Sophia wiped her tears and stood in front of Ravi, glaring at Brain. Her eyes glowed with a mysterious glint and she spoke in a bone-chilling voice,

"If you take even a single step and try to attack him, I will kill you!"

Brain now realized that Sophia knew the man and was willing to protect him at all costs. But what he didn't understand was why was she being overprotective of him.

'If she knows him, then it will good to stall for time but why am I being afraid of her?' thought Brain.

He felt that she could kill him and was equally as dangerous as the man lying down. And he wasn't sure if his pendant would even work. So if he could, he would want to settle everything peacefully, well at least till the reinforcements arrive.

So he put the pendant down and raised his hands, "OK now, take it easy. See, I don't want any kind of trouble."

He was loathing himself inwardly being afraid of a little girl, but he couldn't help it because he knew he couldn't win against her.

"Throw that pendant towards me," Sophia said with the same cold voice.

Brain immediately threw it towards her, and she caught it. And when she looked at it, she realized it was a cursed object with the power of a demon inside it.

After everyone got the superpowers, they got many different abilities which weren't much but were useful and efficient, a few of them being there was no language barrier, everyone could understand each other, even animals and other being when they looked at any object or thing then they automatically knew the basic information about it, as if it was already in their mind.

Sophia put the pendant in her pocket and was about to order Brain to call a healer when she felt a movement beside her, Ravi was slowly trying to stand up but it seemed he didn't have any energy in his body, as he was barely able to stand up and his back wasn't even straight.

His body was arched down and it seemed he would fall again. Then after a moment he lifted his head and looked at Sophia, his eyes were lifeless, his face covered in mud and it felt as if he had lost everything.

Sophia's heart ached to see him like that, she couldn't even begin to imagine what he had been through.

When Sophia was contemplating her thoughts, Ravi simply raised his right hand for a while.

Brain was puzzled by what he was doing and realized it immediately.

Sophia tried to approach him and called his name, "Rav-" but she couldn't finish it when Ravi spoke.

"Leave me alone." There was not a single emotion in his voice, as if the one who spoke wasn't even a living entity.

Saying that Ravi pulled his hand down towards Sophia.

The moment he did that, Sophia felt a strange energy which she had never known but felt very familiar, then she saw a hand, a massive one formed from the same energy moving towards her from above her head.
