Chapter 104: A Little Surprise

Anastasia stared at her phone. Lately, she'd been getting calls from an unknown number, but whenever she answered, silence greeted her, and the call would disconnect after about five seconds. Shaking off the unease that crept into her thoughts, she carried Lily back to the kitchen to finish the pancakes. "Now, let's make Lily's favourite pancakes!" she said cheerfully.

Just as they finished, her phone rang again. Glancing at the screen, she noticed it was the same unknown number. Ignoring it, she turned back to Lily with a smile, helping her into her seat. "Alright, time to eat! And after breakfast, we'll have a nice bath and go grocery shopping. How does that sound?"

Lily squealed with joy, wriggling happily in her seat as she dug into her pancake, which Anastasia had thoughtfully cut into small pieces. Her excitement was contagious, filling the kitchen with a warmth that made Anastasia smile as she watched her daughter savour each bite.
