Staring at the closed door of the bathing room with a confused frown, Ave wondered what had just happened. One moment everything was fine, and then he was trembling and then he was hurting her with his nails, which she could have sworn had grown longer at that moment before he stood up and moved away from her. The look in his eyes showed how surprised he was by whatever had happened before he turned and left.

Looking down at her chest, Ave noticed the ugly red marks that were bleeding slightly, marred her fair skin. She knew it wasn't just on her chest as she could feel the same sting on her neck and back. She didn't have to look to know he had scratched her with his nails on her neck and back as well, and that made her frown deepen even more. Lucian would never hurt her, she knew that because her heart believed that; what had just happened was out of his control.
