Ave didn't stop running down the quiet corridors until she ran out to the open halls where the windows were opened, with natural light spilling in and illuminating the high ceilings and polished floors. A few guests who hadn't gone for their afternoon stroll in the garden were walking around with their maidservants carrying dresses, as most of the princesses were preparing beforehand for the ceremony, which was only the day after tomorrow.

Ave slowed her pace as not to draw attention to herself, where everyone was busy doing their own thing without noticing her. Placing her hand against her racing heart, she calmed herself and told herself that her mind must have made up the eerie breezy voice she'd heard in the corridor and the feeling of being watched. It had almost felt like something out of this world had been there, and the thought of experiencing that feeling again sent a cold shiver down her spine.
