Outside the Player's Administrator building, sitting on a wooden bench, Kane looked at the time on his phone: 3:47 p.m.
'At seven-thirty, I have a meeting with the MystTech Innovations people,' he thought, looking up at the sky.
It was about four hours before he was to meet with Lys. In addition, Kane considered looking for the person who would help him later, although he needed to know how long it would take to find her, as Ignes' city was quite large.
The money did not worry him; he had almost ten thousand crowns. He stayed longer watching the sky before getting up from the bench; his mind made up. He would go to the Arcanum district, the industrial area of the city, where the person he needed to find was located before going to the Historic Void shard to get one of the ingredients for the potion that would remove the corruption from his body.
Holding the eight-legged wolf in his hands, Kane looked at it momentarily, remembering that he had not yet named it. He thought briefly, and a simple name came to mind.
"You'll be called Kuro. It's easy to remember; if I'm not mistaken, it means black."
Ding!
[You have named the eight-legged bloody wolf!]
Ding!
[You have obtained a title: The Man Who Named a Mythical Creature!]
[The Mythical Creature Eight-legged Bloody Wolf has recognized Kuro's name.]
Kane looked surprised at the message windows in front of him. Although he knew what kind of creature the wolf was when encountering it in the fog forest, he didn't expect to receive a title just for naming it.
Curious to see what the title said, he opened the status window.

'Interesting...'
Kane read the title description with a small smile. Then his gaze wandered back to the status window, looking at everything he currently had, and he realized that he still hadn't seen the description of the skill that replicated the protagonist, Theo.
'I wonder where Theo is right now; he's probably out of that strange forest.'
Sidestepping his thoughts, Kane looked at the description of the replicated ability.
[Matrix of Chaos]
Description: An ability that allows the user to manipulate probabilities and alter the fate of events in a specific area. Upon activating the ability, the user generates a field of chaotic energy that distorts reality, making the probabilities of success or failure of any action within this field unpredictable.
Effects:
—Distortion of Probabilities: Within the "Matrix of Chaos," all actions, decisions, and outcomes are influenced by chaotic energy. A sure hit may miss, a simple decision may have unexpected consequences, or an impossible action may succeed. This distortion affects both the user and his enemies, and the outcome of any action cannot be predicted while the field is active.
—Fate Override: This skill also allows the user to break the threads of the River of Fate, nullifying any prophecy, curse, or predestination that may affect the characters within the field.
However, this only lasts as long as the "Matrix of Chaos" is active. Once it dissipates, destiny retakes its course, albeit with possible alterations due to the chaos generated.
—Chaotic Force: The longer the "Matrix of Chaos" is kept active, the more unstable the probabilities become, increasing the level of chaos to the point where reality begins to break down. This can result in strange and dangerous phenomena.
Limitations:
—Uncontrollability: once activated, the user does not have complete control over events within the "Matrix of Chaos." Chaos is unbiased and can turn against the user himself.
—Limited Duration: The ability has a limited duration, and the longer it is used, the riskier it becomes to keep it active.
"Hahaha, that's amazing! As expected from a replicated ability of the protagonist."
Kane couldn't hide his happiness as he read the description. It was too fantastic to be true. He sat on the wooden bench, trying to calm himself down. He read the description several times, unable to believe his eyes.
After a few minutes, he closed the message window, got up, and took a cab to the city's industrial area.
...
Arcanum District.
Kane got out of the cab with the eight-legged wolf now named Kuro.
The area is enveloped in a constant buzz of activity, with the sky covered in gray clouds that seem to reflect the smoke emanating from the factories.
Factories, with their rusted metal structures and concrete walls, rise like monotonous giants on the horizon. In the distance, the noise of machines and the pounding of hammers fills the air, mingling with the constant murmur of workers coming and going.
As he walked through the streets, Kane watched the people dressed in uniforms stained with grease and dust move mechanically, exhausted but efficient, as they loaded heavy materials or supervised the vast machines that never stopped working.
The flickering lights and the clanking of metal echo in the streets, consistently damp from the mist that never seems to go away.
Among the crowd of workers, young people occupy their own space. Some carry boxes, others push carts, and many watch with resignation and hope, knowing their fate is tied to these factories.
Their faces reflect the weariness of a hard life. Some of them are grouped in small groups, conversing in whispers.
The streets are filled with an oppressive feeling.
'Every district in this city is either too luxurious or too depressing...' Kane thought as he strolled, heading to his next destination, which was not far away.
