Chapter 10: Eight-legged bloody wolf

Kane finished reading the news about the tremendous black fog that swept through the cities of Brüdenheim, Eisengrün, and Rosenwald, turning them into lands of irrational, bloodthirsty monsters.

This surprised him a little since what happened in those cities was mentioned in the game as a cinematic before the first scenario.

"Well, for now, it's business as usual..."

Closing the news window, he fixed his gaze on his bank account balance: he had only three thousand crown. With his hand on his chin, he began to think about the many companies that would appear during the game but which, at that moment, had not yet fully shone.

Then he remembered the name of one of them: MystTech Innovations.

This company, relatively unknown at the beginning of the game, specialized in using magic stones to manufacture technological devices such as phones, holographic watches, and other innovative artifacts.

Knowing that MystTech Innovations would become a technological giant that would revolutionize the industry in the future, Kane decided to write it down and invest in it after the first stage, as he didn't have enough money.

'Hmm, what am I missing now?' he thought, already having accomplished leveling up and getting a trait.

After a brief reflection, he gave feedback on what he had done that day. He took his notebook and began to write down what had happened since his transmigration.

As he wrote, he frowned as he remembered the words of the first leader of the Augustus family:

"What did he mean by 'He' has set 'His' gaze on me? Would it have anything to do with my transmigration to this world? Tch! If He had at least told me who has His gaze fixed on me, I could think of some countermeasure."

He put that matter aside and continued writing in the notebook. After receiving the feedback, he reviewed the sheet where he had made a preliminary plan and modified it, considering his current state.

When he finished, he looked at the notebook with a satisfied smile, ordered food, and rested for the rest of the day.

...

In the morning, with the sun's golden rays filtering through the room's only window, Kane opened his eyes lazily and let out a long yawn. He got out of bed and headed straight for the bathroom; for today, he already had plans: he would go to an appraisal store.

"Woof!"

A small bark sounded in the room, drawing the attention of Kane, who came out of the bathroom to dry his long hair. He looked calmly at the eight-legged wolf, who winged him with distrust and hostility.

"So you finally woke up," he said with a calm smile as he walked over to the closet. From there, he pulled out a black sweatshirt, white baggy pants, and sneakers of the same color.

After dressing, he approached the bed, where the wolf looked at him with hostility. Releasing his mana, Kane spoke without knowing if the creature would understand:

"I was the one who saved you from death."

"Grrrr...!" The wolf showed hostility as Kane approached; its eyes flashed dangerously.

With a long sigh, Kane activated the Mark of the Calamity Emperor trait as he muttered:

"I didn't want to use this trait for something so trivial, but you leave me no choice."

At that moment, his body gave off a violent, terrifying, and domineering aura, completely scaring the eight-legged wolf, who began to tremble on the bed.

Kane deactivated the feature, and the room returned to normal. Then he spoke again to the wolf:

"I don't care if you don't like it, but from now on, I am your master."

Suddenly, Kane felt his mana go to the wolf, and a message window appeared.

Ding!

[You have completely subdued the Creature &%&/# "Eight-legged bloody wolf"]

[You have established a Master-servant relationship with the "Eight-legged bloody wolf."]

[You can now look at the status of the "Eight-legged bloody wolf."]

Kane looked at the message windows and opened the Eight-legged Bloody Wolf status window.

[Status information]

Name: None

Breed: ???

Age: 3 months old

Master: Kane Jineman

Trait: Ravenous Blood Hunger

Strength: 5

Agility: 4

Stamina: 5

Mana: 20

Unique Abilities: No awakening

Abilities: Bloody Dark Claws, Night Veil, Shadowy Roar, Shadowy Step.

"Oh, it has quite a bit of ability." Kane looked at his new pet's status window with surprise and decided to examine the trait since he had to get out.

[Ravenous Blood Hunger]

This trait allows him to absorb the vitality and energy of any being that bleeds out in his presence. As he feeds, his wounds heal quickly, and his strength increases. In addition, the more he absorbs, the denser the shadows around him become, making it difficult for his enemies to detect him or escape.

"Quite interesting, it's a handy feature. I wonder what kind of corruption it will generate when used." Kane closed the status window and picked up the eight-legged wolf, which had stopped shaking.

With the puppy in his hands, he looked at it for a few seconds before taking the college bag where he had kept the black crown and left the room.

Once outside the apartment, he took a cab to the Celestial Appraisals guild.

The Celestial Appraisals guild specialized in evaluating and appraising objects obtained from fragments of the historical void.

...

An hour later, Kane arrived at an imposing building, the guild's main headquarters, located in the Eburnean district in the center of the city.

People were coming in and out of the doors, some in armor, others in mage robes, and a mix of garb and styles.

After inhaling and exhaling deeply, he made his way toward the building.

It was finally his turn after waiting in line for a few minutes, which seemed like an eternity.

"Can I help you with something?" asked the worker with a professional smile.

"I'm here to evaluate an item," Kane said calmly.

"Are you a player? If so, please present your card," the worker said, maintaining his smile.

'Player's card, I've never heard of such a thing,' thought Kane as he replied, "I'm not a player; I just want to evaluate my object."

"Then, go up that staircase to the right. On the second floor, you'll be served by a gentleman named Rick," the worker indicated.

"Thank you."

Kane thanked and went up to the second floor, where there were fewer people, most of them equipped with armor. He approached where a small sign read, "Appraiser Rick."
