Chapter 29: Chapter 29

"Damn, the monster's are endless." An instructor cursed upon seeing more and more swarms of monsters approaching the academy. "I hope the students aren't in danger." His voice was low, tone worried.

He raised his hands, and a soft chant in the Elvish language filled the air. Mana started to churn around him, responding to him like a tide.

He pointed his hands at the incoming swarm of monsters.

「Advanced Magic Missile: Infinity Missile」

Rings started from in front of his fingers, each one larger than the last. After 5 rings meterialysized in rapid succession, the elven letter started to form on the outer layers of the circles while geometric shapes—square and triangle—began forming within, aligning in a perfect design.

As the formation stabilized, a single magic missil appeared at the center of the first circle, poised and ready.

「Release」

Pui! Pui! Pui!

With a burst of energy, the missile surged forward, passing through each circle, multiplying exponentially. By the time it crossed the fifth circle, it had multiplied into 65,536 missiles. They rained down upon the swarm like a deluge of destruction.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Since the monsters were weak and in swarms, they obliterated alongside their brethren. A smile bloomed on his face, seeing the devastation, but that quickly faded as soon as another swarm emerged from the crack.

"Fucking hell"

Sweeeee! Boom!

A loud whistling sound cut through the air, followed by a brilliant beam of light that streaked across the sky, striking the heart of the new swarm. Following was an intense whistling sound and explosion, vaporizing the monster in an instant.

Swoosh!

The blast waves hit him, causing his clothes to flutter violently. Then his gaze shifted to the source, a black haired woman standing nearby him. Her hand still extended, a faint glow of magic dissipating from her from her fingers. Seeing that his brow furrowed in irritation.

"How many times do I have to tell you to control your strength, Kiva? If the students are out, they may get hurt," he said with an annoyed tone.

As the barrier opened and swarms of monsters emerged, she was shooting the energy beams without care in the world.

The male instructor said don't do that many times, but she didn't listen to it and did what she liked.

Seeing she was not responding to him, he complained in a barely audible tone, "How in the hell did she even become an instructor?"

Her ears perked up upon hearing his words. Since she is an S class ranker, her senses are heightened, but she didn't care about his remarks and asked while shooting beams.

"So did they find out who broke into the control room and deactivated the barrier and destroyed the power supply?" Kiva asked.

One of the purposes of the control room was to supply mana to the wall from a mana storage that was placed deep underground in the academy, making the wall durable enough to endure A-rank monsters and hunters attacks.

But as the figure destroyed the control room, the power supply was cut off, making it a normal wall.

He shook his head and sighed. "No, there was no trace of who did that; all they found out was a shadowy figure with a hunchback who devours humans. He broke the wall and killed all the workers that were A class rankers." There was a slight disappointment in his face as he spoke.

"He must be above S rank, huh? Do you think it will be the Holders or Retributors?"

The holders are a bunch of worshippers who sold their souls to demons. They call themselves holders because they think they are carrying the will of demons and purging the world.

The Retributors are humans who sold their souls for power and held vengeance against powerful people and families who looked down on them. They are both puppets of demons. Known as demon contractors.

"There is a chance, but there are also other races that control humans too," he said, his face turning cold. "A bunch of vicious monsters."

He shook off his thoughts and focused on killing monsters. "You're a close combatant, right? Why are you here and not helping the students?" he asked, but he already knew the answer.

Since she is an S class, she can easily kill the monsters and protect the kids, but the problem is swarms.

Of course, he can handle them as he is also an S class ranker, but that doesn't mean he has unlimited mana. When he exhausts all of his mana, the monsters will be close to the academy, and if he uses any powerful skill to obliterate the monsters, the academy and students may catch up in attack.

If he goes to close combat, more and more swarms will come, and he will slowly exhaust his stamina too. Not only that, but more swarms will pose a threat for the students.

So the only option is to kill the monster on air before they get to the ground. Since the academy is so big as a city, other instructors' hands are full of dealing with their sides.

Not only that, some of the instructors have gone to assist the military. So the only option is to minimize the damages, as only a small part of the swarm is escaping to the academy.

"They have to quickly kill the queen, or else more swarms will keep coming," he said while firing magic missiles. 'I hope there will be no casualties.'

Suddenly a powerful wave hit me, causing me to lose balance and fall to the ground. The mist I cast disappeared, revealing my position to the monsters.

Swoosh!

My eyes widened seeing a monster approach me at great speed.

Before I could dodge, the monster's stinger pierced my left bicep. Seeing two more monsters launching at me, I sliced the stinger that pierced my hand. Grabbing the monster's wings, I placed it in front of me as a shield.

"Guhh!" I grunted in pain as a stinger pierced through the monster's hide, piercing my abdomen.

With a rush of adrenaline, I grabbed both stingers and slammed the monsters on the ground.

"Die, die, die." I snarled with gritted teeth, stabbing the creature repeatedly until their bodies stopped twitching.

Blood poured out from my wounds, but I didn't care; after confirming there was no movement, then now I took out a potion from my storage and chugged it down.

"Huff, huff—Fuck," cursing under my breath, tossing the empty bottle at the approaching monster.

"I should do it, if it's to survive."

After racking my brain, I found a theory—a loophole in the skill.

In the skill information, it stated that I need to kill a monster that is a subrank above me to increase my status, but what factors decide it's me who killed the monster, and what influence decides the absorption gacha to absorb a status point?

After thinking a lot, I got the answer—it's connected to mana. In the world, skills, spells, and most of the things connected to mana.

So I came to the conclusion that what decided the monster's death was its mana, and what triggers the skill to absorb is my mana. Of course, the skill doesn't need mana to activate, but what I mean is that the skill is connected to my body. And to kill a higher ranked monster, I definitely need to use mana.

So when I kill the monster, it's mana changes, and there is my mana in the monster's body because I used to kill it.

The skill will detect the monster's death and absorb a status point. That's the loophole.

If I use my mana on a monster and the monster dies by another person, I can absorb the status because the skill detected my mana in the dead body of the monster and thought, I killed it.

'I'm not sure if my theory is correct, but I already used the theory and worked, so I have to find perfect people to hunt for me.' Suddenly, I got the urge to laugh a little.

Smirk

"I can't believe even in a dire situation I'm thinking about that." I ran to my destination while avoiding fighting with monsters. "It would be better if they followed me."
