Chapter 31: Against The Wolf (3)

"Sanpang!" Damon closed his eyes and prepared to deploy his goldveil shield in front of everyone to defend against the beast, but before he could, a loud voice of Xu Zhaoting reached his ears.

Wang Sanpang wailed, "Earth Wave, Shifting!"

Wang Sanpang's plump body unexpectedly bent over and stuck his two hands into the ground.

The ground was filled with grains of sand. In the time between his shout and his hands reaching the ground, the ground around him suddenly turned into a controllable earth wave, like a stone thrown into a clear pond, causing it to ripple.

This ripple appeared on the ground, filled with sand and stones. It became a wave of earth that quickly appeared where the duo stood.

Damon and Mu Bai were unable to avoid the flying sand and rocks. However, as this earth ripple appeared, it carried the duo smoothly over five meters away, smoothly dodging the flying sand and rocks that would have easily injured them.

Wang Sanpang, who was among the ones who stayed behind, quickly cast the spell on Xu Zhaoting's order and saved Damon and Mu Bai on time by casting Earth Wave Shifting, the most basic and the first spell of the earth element that quickly shifts the position of oneself or others to another spot.

"Lightning Strike: Python Mark!" Xu Zhaoting roared once again as he quickly cast his lightning spell, which, though very low to do any damage to the wolf, at least had the wolf enter another state of paralysis, buying enough time to protect the duo of Damon and Mu Bai from further assaults.

"Are you both alright?" Xu Zhaoting ran as fast as he could to Damon, who just nodded lightly, not sustaining any injuries aside from minor bruises. But the same couldn't be said about Mu Bai, who had gained a lot of injuries that appeared to be serious.

"Ugh," groaning a little, Damon got up by himself as he gathered his thoughts while watching the wolf being attacked by the students with multiple elemental spells, while being unable to defend against any in its state of paralysis.

The attacks did no damage to the wolf given its defense, making Damon frown.

"Mad Whip..." murmuring just the name of the spell, Damon once again began to cast his magic. The lightning once again appeared and coiled around his hands, taking the shape of a whip made of lightning emerging from his hands with a python head at its end.

Taking a step forward, Damon lunged the whip at the beast, inflicting another paralysis on the wolf.

Lightning Strike: Mad Whip—every time the Lightning Whip swatted down, an electric arc would follow up and drill itself into the savage One-eyed Magic Wolf, entering its flesh and bones. It was different from the primary Lightning Strike: Python Scars. Once you hit them with the whip-like Lightning traces, it would leave behind Lightning prints. These prints would then conduct electricity to each other, sustaining the electric shock to the target organism.

Given the spell's versatility and control over the lightning, Damon often used the spell in a way that utilized a large amount of magic in a single attack, trying to make it mimic more of a basic lightning strike to single-shot the targets, focusing more on damage.

Since his attack didn't have any effect on the wolf because of its defense, Damon changed his strategy and began to use the whip with low damage output to just inflict the status of paralysis time and time again to just restrict the movements of the beast while conserving his energy.

"Xu Zhaoting, take Mu Bai with you and order the others to evacuate the cave."

As Damon attacked the beast, he spoke seriously without even looking at Xu Zhaoting and the others who had come to his side.

"B-but I—"

"No buts here... just take the others and evacuate as fast as you can. I will hold down the whips and escape last."

Damon didn't take his eyes off the beast at all as he spoke. Xu Zhaoting wanted to argue with Damon, but looking at the situation where they were completely overpowered by the wolf, Xu Zhaoting reluctantly followed the order. Carrying Mu Bai with him while ordering other classmates to carry those who were unable to move with them and evacuate the cavern, while Damon just repeatedly kept on whipping the wolf.

"Grrr... Grrr..." The wolf kept on growling as he looked at Damon with pure rage in his eyes. The creature was now completely on its knees as Damon repeatedly struck him with lightning strikes in the same order while all of the students began evacuating.

'I think the only option now left would be to follow Mo Fan's steps...' Damon thought to himself. In the novel, when faced with the beast, Mo Fan was also no match for it, and in the end, he led the beast deep inside the cavern and dropped a stalactite on the wolf, who was paralyzed. The roof above Damon didn't have any stalactites capable of using now, but if it's in the deep cavern, Damon would have no choice but to follow Mo Fan's path.

Originally, he had devised a plan that could effectively kill the beast if followed correctly, but it involved the participation of everyone. But now the entire ordeal was ruined; everyone fell into chaos, and now only a handful of people were here with Damon, out of which very few were in a state to cast magic.

Damon had already known that this might be the outcome when the students faced the beast and behaved this pathetically but still held hope that the students now in reality would behave better... but sigh, what can we expect from extras.

With this remaining number of mages, it would be impossible to carry out this plan, so now if Damon wants to kill the beast, he would need to do it solo and use all of his elements to pull this stunt off.

"Now it's time for a strong one..." Damon muttered to himself as the students almost completed their evacuation. He stopped whipping the wolf and called the whip back.

All the fear and panic he had the moment he first saw the beast was now nowhere to be seen. The calmness that he had lost was now back as he looked at the beast that he had toyed with.

Crackle~

A crackling sound soon echoed throughout the cavern as the strong purple lightning began to gather around Damon. The light elemental students began to evacuate, dimming the lights that illuminated the cavern.

In the dark cavern, only two figures were left—the wolf that was paralyzed, unable to defend itself, and a human surrounded by thick purple lightning.

Damon's hair fluttered wildly as the purple Stardust manifested itself in front of him. The lightning around him increased in number and intensity as Damon raised his hands once again.

The wild lightning coiled around his hands, all concentrating on his palms once again.

"Lightning Strike: Mad Whip!"

The loud roar of Damon echoed through the empty cavern as the Lightning once again shot out of his palm, striking straight at the wolf with its full might!

BOOM!

Awooooh!

The loud explosion accompanied by the ear-piercing wolf howl echoed in the cavern once again. The impact struck straight on the Wolf's head, inflicting real damage for the first time on the wolf.

The flash ended, revealing the wolf with all of its muscles convulsing rapidly and a large black charred mark covering half of its face.

The attack drained quite a lot of mana from Damon's body, leaving his lightning element nearly dry in terms of magic power.

'...Now I need to lead the wolf to—'

As Damon was planning his next move, the aura around him suddenly became more suffocating... looking around, the protagonist looked at the wolf that suddenly started growling wildly.

The aura around the wolf intensified as the wolf released all of its aura, with trembling legs that the wolf attempted to get up as the residual lightning still crackled around its body.

The eyes that looked at Damon with previous annoyance and rage disappeared and were replaced with red eyes filled with an intent to kill.

The ground under the wolf cracked in a pattern that resembled spider webs... in the darkness, the red eyes glowed brightly as they dangerously locked onto Damon.

The killing intent was suffocating, causing Damon's body to stiffen as he watched the wolf let out another ear-piercing howl towards the air.

Awooooh!
