Chapter 30: Against The Wolf (2)

"R..r..run!"
The loud scream echoed throughout the cavern, echoing in the minds of the students. All the calmness they had a second before was now replaced by pure panic and fear. Looking at the fierce beast in front of them, just the presence of it was enough to wipe their rationality completely, throwing their minds into chaos.
With the pure fear that now terrorized their hearts, the students came out of their state of petrification and just ran... ran with all their might to get away from the monster in front of them.
The weak-willed collapsed on the floor, not responding. Cries erupted from their mouths as their sphincters gave up, releasing all kinds of waste from their bodies. Their bodies didn't listen to them as their minds gave up. The students, though now mages with great talents, were still students at the end of the day—just sheltered teenagers who had never crossed paths with danger and enjoyed the granted protection of the strong.
For the first time in their lives, they encountered a beast—an untamed, wild beast that thirsted for their blood. The wild aura radiating from the wolf was enough to make the students wail like toddlers.
Amongst the students, Mo Fan was also among the first to come out of his trance and run out of the cave. He grabbed the girl with the fire element, who, even when struck with fear, was trying to align her stars and release magic but was failing to do so. Picking up the girl easily, Mo Fan ran out of the cavern, leaving only a few behind.
The ones who still remained were either too scared to move or trying to overcome their fear and gather themselves. Mu Bai and Xu Zhaoting, who were in the lead accompanying Damon, all three stood petrified on the spot. Being near the beast, the three were most affected by the aura radiating from the beast.
Damon, the transmigrator and the one with cultivation in space and spiritual attainment, should have been expected to be unaffected by the beast, but that wasn't the case. His high mental strength and memories, which stood as the foundation for his maturity and experience, were all of no use when he came face-to-face with the natural predators of nature. Coming face-to-face with a monster up close instills a fear that no superficial knowledge or cultivation could defend against. Only strong will and experience, which makes one familiar with beasts, could help one overcome the fear. The fight against his natural instinct in the face of the wolf before him was a wall that Damon had to overcome himself.
Blood ran fast in his veins, his hormones kicked in, and his body refused to acknowledge Damon's commands. With trembling limbs, Damon somehow managed to snap out of his fear, his hands trembling as they rose in front of him.
"L-Li-lightning strike!" With stuttering words, Damon instinctively released his spell. The purple stars instantly aligned themselves with a single command from their master. The lightning began to crackle... the purple radiance once again manifested itself into the world, radiating from Damon's body as it ran wildly through his hands, conjuring in his palms and taking the shape of a python's head. It instantly blasted towards the green creature from close range, making it impossible to dodge.
"Awoooh!"
The loud screech that deafened everyone rang out of the cave as the purple radiance illuminated the cavern. The lightning whip struck straight onto the monster, inflicting damage and making the beast scream in pain. The blinding flash blinded the students still present in the cave, finally making them snap out of their embarrassing state. Mu Bai and Xu Zhaoting were the first of the remaining students to snap out of their fear.
"Grr..Grrr..."
The low growl echoed through the cavern where only the heavy breathing of the students resounded. Everyone held their breath as they watched the results of Damon's attack. The giant beast that overshadowed them in size now had its feet trembling. It struggled to stand straight, faced with the electric attack of such intensity as the electricity crackled through its body. The attack that could easily kill a human had almost no visible effect on the beast's body. The beast looked perfectly fine, as its thick skin protected it from the damage of the attack. The loud growls escaped the giant mouth of the beast as it looked at the students with anger. The pain and anger it felt were all clearly visible on the beast's face, but the creature was unable to take any action at the moment under the aftereffects of the lightning spell that inflicted paralysis on the target.
"N-nothing happened?" One of the students, whose legs had given up, muttered to himself, his eyes widened with shock. All the students had witnessed the power of Damon's attack, but to think the spell wouldn't even inflict any damage on the beast came as a shock to them.
For a normal magical creature like a one-eyed wolf, Damon's attack would have been enough to inflict some serious damage if taken head-on. But the one before them was no ordinary beast; it was a spirit wolf, a strong species of wolf-type beast that the military had nurtured, putting considerable resources into it. For an elite monster like this, even a primary mage's attack—even that of a peak-level primary rank mage—would be laughable.
The body of the beast, under the effect of the lightning strike, began to slowly stop convulsing, and the effect of paralysis slowly came to an end under everyone's eyes.
"Ice Spread." As the lightning began to fade away from the beast's body, another loud chant echoed through the room as a white radiance now illuminated the cave. Mu Bai, who stood at Damon's side, cast his spell in hopes of freezing the beast and preventing it from moving. The cold energy of ice swirled around Mu Bai, marching towards the beast, covering the limbs and mouth of the wolf with a thick layer of ice before the beast could recover from the effects of the lightning.
Looking at the effect of the spell, the students began to finally calm themselves down while putting efforts into aligning their stars in stardust, but the relief the students expected didn't come.
Creak~
A creaking sound rang out as the ice that covered the beast's legs began to crack.
Creak~ Creak~
The sounds of ice creaking echoed loudly as the ice covering the beast's legs easily shattered into pieces. The large forelegs of the beast escaped the ice, and taking a giant leap, shattering the ice that covered its hind legs like nothing, the beast leaped onto the duo of Damon and Mu Bai, who stood closest to it and dared to attack it.
Its giant foreleg was raised towards the duo; the giant wanted to stomp on both of them.
"Fuck!" The loud curse couldn't help but escape Damon's mouth as he watched the wolf lunging at him. Grabbing Mu Bai, who was frozen on the spot, by the hand, Damon pulled the blue-haired boy with all his might while jumping sideways out of the beast's trajectory of the jump, along with Mu Bai, barely avoiding the attack by the beast.
Boom!
The duo avoided the direct hit, but as the beast landed, a huge shockwave caused the dust and stones nearby to fly away, along with the duo who barely escaped. The duo hurled meters away by the impact of the shockwave, finally landed on the ground, with Mu Bai, who had a weak body, surviving the crash with numerous bruises as compared to Damon, who only got some minor scratches.
Looking at its prey escape its attack, the wolf wasn't happy at all. A cracking sound resounded once again as the wolf easily shattered the ice that covered its mouth. Hot breath escaped its mouth as it looked with anger at the duo, its eyes especially fixed on Damon as it opened its bloody mouth to its full extent and howled with all its might.
Awooooh!
A wild wind erupted from the beast's mouth, catching all the sand and dust nearby. A dragon of dust erupted from its mouth, soaring and flying toward Damon, who had no time to avoid the attack.
Damon watched the attack hurling toward him, his mind going blank as he faced the wolf. He watched helplessly as the attack hurled toward him while he closed his eyes.

A crazy week for me. Got my life's first laptop (Mac M1 model) and also appeared for first round of counselling and yeah not got any college in this round.. sigh feeling like have to take drop this year because of this scam. Seriously not getting colleges even at 645 and asking a drop it surely sounds crazy wonder if so many above 600 takes drop then how high would next years cutoff would be. Anyway back at writing here.
