Chapter 10: End Of Semester

"Whoa!"

"Look at those lightning bolts!"

In the center of the school grounds, all the students of class eight widened their eyes as they watched the scene unfold. Damon, the center of attention, appeared indifferent as he was enshrouded in lightning.

Purple arcs as thick as forearms danced wildly around him, covering the area within a few meters and destroying the once-perfect ground. The pressure he emitted made everyone feel numb.

"Lightning Strike!" Damon whispered as he raised his hands. The lightning arcs converged above his head before shooting down at the puppet placed in the distance under his command.

Boom!

A brilliant light almost blinded the students as the puppet violently trembled, charred by the violent Lightning Strike. Electricity crackled around it, covering it with whip-like marks. The human-shaped puppet exploded, leaving no remains in a single moment by the force of the lightning.

The floor where the puppet stood was now covered with black marks, evidence of the violent attack.

"T-this is lightning strike! Holy cow!"

"This is awesome!"

"Fucking god! Why didn't I awaken the lightning element!"

Astonished cries rang throughout the field as the students watched the impact of the lightning strike and Damon, whose handsome figure was still enshrouded in lightning.

"Excellent!" Xue Musheng, who had been watching Damon perform his magic, couldn't help but clap as he looked at Damon with pride. The other students joined in, clapping and praising Damon.

Today was the day the vacations would begin, and the semester would come to an end. This test measured the progress of students. Traditionally, Stardusts were only measured since some students couldn't even control a single star after half a year. Damon, being an exception, was asked to perform a primary rank spell since he was already at that level.

Xue Musheng, in particular, was the happiest person on the ground. Damon's performance was record-breaking in the school's history, which might earn Xue Musheng another bonus. He felt immense pride in his student's growth.

Damon's cultivation speed was so outrageous that some might accuse him of using taboo methods, but Xue Musheng, familiar with Damon's talent and character, never entertained this thought. The teachers and students had monitored Damon's cultivation strictly, aware that he was just a top-tier talent, that may match the geniuses of great clans.

Students commented on how cool Damon looked and how terrifying his attack was. Some, like Mu Bai and Zhao Kunsan, were completely dumbfounded, still clapping with the others. Mu Bai's face, in particular, had a weird and stiff expression. As a proud young master of the Mu Family, even though not from the main branch, he had always considered himself superior among his class. But after Damon's appearance, he felt his limelight slipping away.

In talent, he was no match for Damon. Damon, who didn't even pay attention in class, scored perfectly in every field, whether related to magic, studies, or looks. Till now, Mu Bai had treated Damon as a rival, but in just six months, Damon showed he could conjure a primary rank spell, completely outclassing Mu Bai, who had only four stars under his control.

'How am I supposed to compete with this monster?' Mu Bai gave a bitter smile. There was no enmity between him and Damon, unlike his rivalry with Mo Fan, so his attitude towards Damon was different.

'Sigh, at least I'm better than that dreg,' Mu Bai sighed in defeat, accepting Damon's win. Damon, who didn't care about others' thoughts, watched as the next and last person took the test.

"Next, Mo Fan," Xue Musheng, still happy, announced the next candidate.

Mo Fan, lost in thought as he observed Damon's lightning spell, was startled when Xue Musheng called his name, ordering him to show his Stardust.

"Why is his Stardust so dim?"

"Eh, it's not any different from a newly awakened element at all."

"Don't tell me he didn't cultivate at all this semester!"

Everyone in the class looked at the dimly lit Stardust that Mo Fan conjured. It had no energy, as if newly awakened and not trained at all.

"Mo Fan! What the hell is this?!" Xue Musheng, happy just a moment ago, couldn't help but lose his cool. Normally tolerant, he was now furious looking at the dim red Stardust.

All students of class eight stood on the practical grounds as the teacher conducted a rough test, noting their progress. It was finally Mo Fan's turn, and to everyone's surprise, his fire element seemed untouched.

When Mo Fan awakened, everyone watched his talent, knowing he might be in the top 3 or 2 in the entire school. But over the semester, Mo Fan hadn't put any effort into his element, leaving everyone baffled. Xue Musheng, who cared deeply for his students, couldn't help but spew fire at Mo Fan, using a harsh tone in front of the class.

Damon, watching from behind the crowd, sighed. He knew Mo Fan had been cultivating diligently for the past six months, more than anyone in the class (except Damon). But the problem was, Mo Fan was cultivating his lightning element in secret. The idiot had reached a remarkable point in lightning element cultivation but neglected his fire element, which he showed everyone.

Damon couldn't understand why Mo Fan did this. If he wanted to cultivate, he could have focused on his fire element to avoid getting called out every other day. But no, the protagonist wanted his face-slapping moments. Damon couldn't understand why protagonists did such stupid things; they could just appear average if they wanted to be low-key, instead of drawing more attention by being the worst.

After giving Mo Fan a long lecture, Xue Musheng shook his head. He didn't like scolding his students or making things difficult for them, and really cared for them. That's why he put so much attention on Mo Fan, with good intentions.

With that, the semester came to an end as the sun set over Bochen.

***

Hey guys! Sorry for slow updates I am currently reading the novel too as you know and also planning the next scenarios so sorry it's been taking so long. As you know how uneventful the high school years were with just annual exam provocation, city hunter arc, practical training, duel and finally Bo city's fall so yeah it would take a lot of time for proper action to be involved and I just don't want to skip this three years with just a few lines and showing you the end result so yeah I would take this somewhat slow unlike other fanfic in my pace.
