The streets of downtown National City had become a warzone, each corner echoing with the roar of monstrous creatures and the panic-stricken cries of civilians. Smoke billowed from burning vehicles, and shattered glass littered the ground, reflecting the fiery glow of the chaos.
During all of this, Kayn was swiftly moving throughout the city, slaughtering all the grotesque abominations created by CADMUS all the while protecting and saving civilians.
Kayn sprinted towards a group of civilians trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed building. Without breaking his stride, he activated his telekinesis, sending the debris flying and forcefully splitting open the chaos, creating a path to relative safety.
"Go! Move NOW!" Kayn's voice, amplified by magic, boomed across the area, cutting through the dim atmosphere of despair.
The civilians scrambled to their feet, their eyes wide with fear and awe as they gazed at the handsome hero before them, admiring his bravery as he saved their lives.
A young girl, no older than eight, hesitated for a moment, clutching a battered teddy bear to her chest. Harbinger knelt beside her, using his magical abilities to repair the teddy bear back to its highest quality, his voice softening as he gently touched her shoulder.
"It's going to be okay," he assured her. "You're safe now."
The girl nodded, her tears mixing with the dirt on her face. Kayn scooped her up effortlessly and handed her to a nearby adult, who hurriedly guided the girl away from the carnage.
No sooner had he completed the rescue than another wave of creatures descended upon him. These abominations, with their twisted bodies and mechanical limbs, were relentless.
One creature lunged, its claws aimed for his throat. Kayn sidestepped with inhuman speed, grabbing the creature by the arm and using its momentum to slam it into the ground with bone-shattering force.
Before it could recover, he conjured a blade of pure mana, driving it through the creature's skull, and using his telekinesis to crush the abomination's core, defeating it.
But there was no time to rest. More of them swarmed from the shadows, their numbers seemingly endless. Kayn's mind raced as he calculated the best approach.
Three of the creatures lunged at him simultaneously, their metal limbs gleaming with deadly precision. But Kayn was faster. He spun mid-air, avoiding their swipes, and with a swift motion, summoned a mana blade in each hand.
The blades hummed with energy as he brought them down in a cross-slash, cutting through the creatures' bodies as if they were made of paper. Their pieces fell to the ground, lifeless. He stomped through their chests and crushed their cores with pure strength.
"Blizzard." Kayn muttered, using a spell he had learned from the Book of Merlin. A wave of intense frost quickly ravaged the surrounding area, targeting the creatures.
The frost avoided civilians, due to Kayn's exceptional magic control, yet they swiftly froze any and all monsters the wave came in contact with. Dozens if not hundreds of them instantaneously frozen, before shattering like glass, all destroyed.
"Kayn I'm here, what do you need?" Violet spoke in Kayn's mind, contacting him through their telepathic channel.
"Find the source of this and start to destroy it. I'll handle the civilians and meet up with you soon." Kayn ordered, and Violet responded in kind, getting to work.
From his elevated position, Kayn noticed a group of civilians trapped inside a nearby building, their faces pale with fear. The creatures were closing in on them, their claws scraping against the concrete walls as they tried to break through.
Without a second thought, Kayn swooped down, landing between the creatures and the civilians. His presence alone sent a shockwave of relief through the terrified crowd.
"Stay back!" Kayn commanded, his voice firm yet reassuring. The civilians backed away, watching in awe as he prepared to face the oncoming horde.
One of the creatures lunged, but Kayn intercepted it with a powerful strike to the chest, sending it crashing into the ground, and he stomped on its chest, crushing it's core.
Another beast approached from behind, but Kayn's Six Eyes had already predicted the attack. He turned, grabbing the creature by its throat and slamming it into the pavement, leaving a crater where it landed as he annihilated it's entire body with fearsome lightning.
"Is everyone okay?" Kayn asked, turning his attention to the civilians. His voice, though calm, carried an authority that reassured them.
A man stepped forward, clutching a bleeding arm but managing a grateful smile. "Th-thank you. We would've been dead if not for you."
"Get to safety. I'll handle the rest." Kayn's gaze was already shifting back to the battlefield as more creatures poured in from the alleyways and sewers.
The group of civilians hurried to a safe distance, but not without a few lingering glances of admiration and curiosity. They were witnessing something extraordinary—a protector they had never seen before, but one they would not soon forget.
Kayn turned back to the fray, summoning a storm of mana. He directed the energy into the ground, causing jagged pillars of earth to erupt beneath the creatures, impaling several at once.
Those that survived the initial attack found themselves ensnared by the mana chains that followed, their bodies vaporizing as lightning annihilated them.
Kayn stood up and looked around, the waves of monsters had lightened over time as he had killed more and more of them, but he still needed to be aware of any potential weird attacks.
As he looked around, in the distance, Kayn saw a small group running away in the chaos, and in the middle of that group, he spotted a familiar face, Kara and her sister Alex.
Although she could hide it from normal humans, Kayn could see the little moments of Kara user her powers to save people, such as her empowered breath to stop their attacks.
However, as more monsters swarmed the group, Kara was having problems saving people without full revealing her identity. Kayn chuckled and ran forward towards the group.
Drawing upon his magic, he conjured a series of mana orbs that orbited around him. With a gesture, they shot forward, striking the creatures with pinpoint accuracy, each explosion reducing them to ash.
More kept coming, relentless in their assault. Kayn raised his hands, forming intricate sigils in the air. "Arcane Barrier!" he invoked, a translucent dome forming around the area, halting the creatures' advance.
Kayn immediately began to slaughter all of the creatures inside of the barrier, defeating them all.
With a swift motion, Kayn called forth a massive surge of mana, gathering it into a sphere of condensed energy above his head. The sphere crackled with power, its purple hue illuminating the battlefield.
The monsters all charged towards Kayn, their steps shaking the ground. But Kayn was ready. With a shout, he unleashed the energy, sending a beam of pure mana directly at the monsters.
The beams pierced through all of the creatures with the force of a thousand thunderstorms, blasting through them and reducing them all to ash.
The remaining creatures hesitated, their primitive instincts warning them of the danger they now faced. But there was no escape. Kayn moved with blinding speed, cutting through them with mana blades and blasts, each strike precise and devastating.
As the last of the creatures fell, Kayn hovered above the battlefield, surveying the destruction below. The civilians all looked at him, with praise in their eyes as he had saved them.
Kayn floated onto the ground, spotting Kara and Alex distinctively staring towards him alongside the others. Kara especially stared intently at him, to which Kayn just smiled to all of the civilians.
"Who are you?" a young woman asked, her voice trembling. "Are you...are you a hero?"
"I am Harbinger," Kayn finally said, his voice carrying a weight that silenced the crowd. "I'm here to protect this city. To bring justice to those who threaten it."
The name seemed to resonate with the people. They repeated it in hushed tones, as if trying to commit it to memory. The whispers spread through the crowd, and soon, a cheer erupted.
"Harbinger! Harbinger! Harbinger!"
The chant grew louder, filling the air with a sense of hope that had been missing just moments before. Kayn stood amidst the people, his heart steady, knowing that this was the beginning of something greater.
As the crowd continued to chant his name, Kayn felt a presence approaching from behind. He turned to see Violet on top of a building in the distance calling for him, it seems like she had found the source of the monsters.
"Remember to stay safe, head to the police barricade, it is a safe-zone." Kayn spoke, unleashing a wave of magical energy that created a path protected by a magical barrier.
Kayn glanced at Kara and smiled before floating away towards Violet, ready to annihilate the source of these abominations.
