My eyes widened and surprised as I took in the scene before my eyes. The woman who stood just one day ago, alongside my mate, now dead on the floor.

The idea of my mate being part of this was not one that I wanted. And the fact that I knew that it was my fault did not make this any better.

"Audrey?" I called, looking at her my heart racing against my ribcage as she looked down at her feet, keeping her tight grip around the girl.

"Vladimir?" She called avoiding my eyes as she held on to the little girl as if she was the one thing that could keep her standing right now. the girl was no older than ten or eleven.
