Iva and Chaos stared at each other unblinkingly, the soft hooting of owls in the distance and the chirping of the night crickets filled the place. Slowly, the crescent moon was rising, giving a warm glow from the dark sky.

Chaos didn't know the reason for the coffins, but Iva did. She had sharp ears and had overheard Ballister and Kael's conversation. Clearly, the coffins belonged to Kael's family. If his family had turned into vampires and were still alive, they'd be drawn to their coffins just like any vampire would.

That was why when Iva noticed the movement, she ran back to the woods to see if someone had returned...and she met Chaos inside.
