Chapter 111: Bait

Iva placed the wine glass she was holding on the nearest table and picked up another one, which she handed to Jacquelyn.

Jacquelyn remembered that she had yet to recover from the previous night's drinking and still hadn't regained all her memories of what had happened. She shook her head, politely declining the offer.

"Thank you."

"I see you were traumatized after last night," Iva chuckled, taking a sip from her glass. "You didn't tell me you were Kael's bride," she said, looking at Jacquelyn over the rim of the glass, her red eyes boring into Jacquelyn's soul as if waiting for her to lie.

Jacquelyn sighed. "I wanted to, but we never had the chance. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. I have no personal hatred toward Kael. In fact, I adore him very much," Iva replied, raising her glass to her lips.
