Chapter 85: Drying hair

Done eating, Jacquelyn closed her eyes and inhaled deeply before taking a cup of water to help digest the meal. The cold she had been feeling earlier was now replaced with warmth from the hot soup. Pushing her hands into a bowl filled with water, Jacquelyn washed off the sauce that still lingered on her fingers.

She raised her face, looking at where Kael had been standing earlier. He was no longer there. Maybe she had been so focused on eating that she didn't notice when he left the room. Jacquelyn stood up, holding the towel tightly against her chest so it wouldn't slip, but the towel wrapped around her hair fell, causing water to drip down her face.
