Lucien now was standing in front of the mirror looking at himself.
'I look dashing!' He complimented himself. His deep blue eyes shone in arrogance, adjusting the golden embroidery on his light brown suit.
"You look handsome, young master." Anna said, her eyes shining in delight.
"Thank you, Anna."
It has been a week since Lucien and Marigold arrived at the main mansion. And much to his relief Marigold wasn't sleeping with his father but with him.
*SIGH*
Lucien sighed in relief as he muttered inwardly, 'Thank heaven that mother isn't sleeping with him.'
But then a confused look appeared on his face, 'But why isn't he calling her? Maybe his little brother fell off?' He mused.
Lucien was getting ready to meet his father for the first time since the day he was born. He was informed by a maid about the meeting earlier.
As he walked through the hallway leading to the duke's study, he scanned the wall which had beautiful paintings decorating them. A pleasant fragrance hit Lucien, smooth and delicate. He turned to see the vases filled with beautiful and fragrant flowers.
'This smells nice. One day, all of this will be mine,' he resolved while greed shone through his eyes.
"Hey! You, there!"
A shout was heard from behind Lucien, echoing through the empty halls. Lucien turned around to see who had the audacity to call the heir of the duchy like that.
A boy around his age looked at Lucien with pride, he had dark hair and pale blue eyes, similar to Lucien. His chin was raised a little higher, showcasing his pride.
'Hah! What a brat!'
Lucien knew who he was and why he was here. The boy belonged to a branch family, whose head was the count, one of their vassals.
According to the family rules. If the heir does not awaken a powerful affinity, he has to relinquish his title giving branch families a chance to become the main trunk.
Felix Corstein looked down at Lucien, 'Hah! No matter what, I will become the next head of the house. There's no way you can awaken two affinities like mine! .
Felix awakened ice and water, a pretty rare thing to happen in this world, but those who did were known to become the most powerful in their time.
'Hmph! Do you think I don't know what you are thinking? Wait till I grow up, I will fuck your mom and your wife in front of you. I bet you will enjoy that!'
But Lucien showed no outward hostility towards Felix on the outside, instead he just turned around and continued walking.
Noticing Lucien ignoring him, Felix's face reddened with shame, his hands trembling in anger for being ignored. He extended his hand and a foot long ice shard formed in his hand. It was deep blue in color and emitted bone chilling cold.
Felix looked at Lucien's back while muttering, "How dare you, ignore me, the next head of house! Eat this!"
As Felix was about to throw the ice shard at Lucien, the head butler of the house appeared beside him suddenly and broke the ice shard.
"Who dares!?" Felix roared. But the moment his gaze fell on the old man towering over him, his eyes widened in fear.
"Young master Felix. It is not appropriate to use your powers inside the mansion, I hope it will not repeat again." He said while his wrinkled mouth curled up into a demonic smile.
"Y-Yes, my bad. This will not happen again." Felix mumbled in fright before he took off.
Lucien, who was walking down the hall, halted and turned around to look at the butler. He stared at him curiously while smirking inwardly, 'Not bad old man, not bad.'
"Excuse me, could you show me the way to the duke's office?" He asked innocently.
"Oh! Of course, young master. Follow me please." The butler answered and began to walk to the duke's office.
Lucien followed the butler while observing him. 'It looks like the duke has competent people,' he noted.
They reached the duke's office after walking for a while. The butler knocked on the door and said, "Sir, I have brought young master Lucien with me."
"Enter" A deep voice came from behind the door.
The butler opened and gestured to Lucien to enter while saying, "Young master, please."
The moment Lucien entered the room, he noticed the difference from the outside, 'The air is heavy.' He acknowledged.
He scanned the room, looking around. Old books and grimoires filled the shelves and a painting of the first head of the house decorated the wall.
He then turned towards the man who called himself the duke, Edmund von Corstein. 'I guess his imposing demeanor and power was what kept the vassals in check,' Lucien commented as he scrutinized his father.
Edmund, too, was looking at his son, scanning him. He was surprised by the fact that there was no fear in his son's eyes, which he appreciated, 'Good, you should instill fear but not get afraid.'
"Sit" Edmund commanded.
Lucien nodded his head and sat in the chairs in front of Edmund.
"I didn't call you here to show you love or affection. We are not that close nor do I love you that much. I called you here because some roaches are thinking of taking what belongs to you." Edmund said, getting straight to the point.
"So, what will you do? Will you let them take it, or will you show them that it's impossible?" Edmund continued, his deep blue eyes staring at his son, scrutinizing him, watching his every movement.
Lucien, however, instead of answering stood up and glared back with deep blue eyes, and Pride, arrogance and greed oozed out of him.
"I will not just show them the difference between a main and a branch family, but I will take everything from them. From their wealth, titles and even their dignity. I will make their lives a living hell."
The head butler standing at the back, by the door, smiled in amusement, watching Lucien's actions.
'Hoh! Looks like the young master is quite a feisty one.'
Edmund's face lit up and his lips widened into a grin, mana oozed out of him as his eyes shone in satisfaction, "Good, Then show me!"
Lucien didn't reply to Edmund and walked out of the room while muttering, 'Not just them, I will also take everything from you.'
