Chapter 2: Desperate

White hit the ground and then started rolling until his body finally stopped, he felt like every part of his body was burning.

*Cough*

Blood spilled out of his mouth as he tried to get himself back up on his feet.

'Come on, get up you shitty body, get up damn it, I don't want to die by that ugly gorilla' White thought as he pushed with all his strength, his arms shook as they lifted his body.

Blood continued to spill out of his mouth however he didn't care, what's a bigger injury in the face of certain death?

Turning his head sideways, he saw the Laestrygonian who had now gotten on his feet and was looking at him with those deranged eyes just like before, this time however half of his torso was covered in its blood.

White's sword had almost managed to kill the monster but it had just stopped a second before it could truly land a fatal blow. The monster would still die if left without treatment however White didn't have the time nor power to resist it long enough for it to die of blood loss.

'Either way, I would be the first one to die of blood loss. I don't know how bad my injuries are as they are internal ones but from how much blood I'm coughing out then it must be pretty bad inside there' White thought as he grabbed his lower waist where the Laestrygonians had hit him with a strong backhanded strike.

'My lower ribs are broken and one of them even feels completely shattered' White thought.

A roar tore through the arena as the Laestrygonian started running towards White.

It looked like a starved beast who hadn't eaten in months and a delicious steak was put in a plate and offered to it.

'Ah, here we go again Gorilla' White said as his face contorted into a miserable grin, his teeth colored red from blood, his body in an unstable stance, and his arm which he had put forward shaking like a leaf under the wind.

He showed bravery and courage on the outside but he was shaking from the stress coursing through his body, if it wasn't for the adrenaline rushing through him then he would have collapsed long ago.

The Laestrygonian grew more and more frantic as it came closer, its steps seeming less and less human like as it started to run on all fours.

'My sword is sticking on the right side of his neck, all I have to do is push it further in and I win, then I will just have to hope that I get healed somehow after winning this battle.' White thought as he made a plan to put himself at risk just for the chance to be able to defeat the monster.

'No, I'm not putting myself at any more risk by doing this, if I were to stay or run away from it then that would truly be hopeless.' White thought as he tried to reaffirm his plan of action.

The Laestrygonian arrived merely a few short seconds later, it raised its body from its four-legged stance and stood on its legs.

'It looks like a bear turned into a human' White thought as he waited patiently, not moving an inch.

"Rawgrhh" The Laestrygonian roared once more as it made a swiping motion with both of its arms.

White squatted down as the Laestrygonian arms swung above him. Immediately after he used all the strength left on his legs and jumped while grabbing the giant's neck with his hands and then used its neck to swing himself on the giant's back.

The Laestrygonian didn't stand still when it saw what White had done and started swinging its body back and forth in an attempt to throw White on the ground.

'If I fall then I'm getting stomped without a doubt' White thought as he held on to the Giant's neck for dear life.

Gritting his teeth, White released his hold on the giant's neck with one of his arms. Now his body was shaking so much that it was already a miracle how he hadn't been thrown meters away already.

Using the now freed hand, White grabbed the sword handle on the right side of the giant's neck and started pushing it with all his strength, it wasn't moving even an inch however as he gave it his all.

'God damned giant muscles, just get pierced already' White thought as he tried and tried but nothing he did was working.

And then the shaking stopped, the giant wasn't moving around anymore.

White took this chance as soon as it appeared, fearing he would waste such a miracle.

*Crunch*

Loud screams erupted from White, towering even the loud roars of the Arena spectators, and for White, it was like time had frozen and only pain was coursing through his body.

His left arm which he had used to grab onto the giant's neck dropped to his side.

It couldn't even be called a arm anymore as all that was left of it was a stump.

The giant had almost bitten his arm off completely, leaving only a small part at the top which had been connected to White's torso.

It only took a second and the shaking started once more, as the giant tried to throw White off his back again and again.

'This gorilla bastard' White thought in between the piercing flashes of pain that were ripping through his body every time the giant shook his body.

Gripping the sword handle even tighter, his nails piercing his hand, White gathered all of his remaining strength and pushed with all he could.

A roar ripped through White's lungs as he tried his all, for victory, for survival.

*Schlik*

The blade started piercing further into the giant's neck slowly but surely ensuring its death.

The Laestrygonian while a crazed beast still had its instincts and could notice that it was dying, in what felt like a last-ditch effort in White's eyes, the monster dropped its body onto the ground.

The spectator's roars grew louder as they watched the battle's final struggle.

'What is this bastard doing now' White thought for a split second confused and then he saw what was about to happen.

'This damned monster is trying to squish me underneath its body' White thought as the monster started rolling its body.

White just released a huff as he released a short laugh and then grit his teeth.

The monster had been pierced on the right side of his neck where White was currently hanging off of and to squash White, the Laestrygonian had to turn his body to the left which meant that for a split second, White would have the perfect position to push the sword further in.

As soon as the Laestrygonian reached halfway in his rotation, White planted his feet on the monster's right arm and used his entire body weight and strength to push the sword further in.

"Ragghh"

Blood had started dripping from White's nose, eyes and even ears as he tried his hardest for this one split second, for him it felt like all the training he had done until now was all for just this split second.

Just so he could survive right here and right now.

And the sword finally pierced through.
