Kayn frowned slightly, thinking to himself "Is he aware of my plan?"
He couldn't help but think so because the fact that Uchiha Fugaku directly said his name was really strange.
Sure, Uchiha Shisui had a good relationship with his original self, but so as the other members of the clan! So when it comes to the point of interest, he's not supposedly the first on the list here.
And yet, Fugaku still directly named him to lead the search for Shisui's body.
Kayn later shook his head, thinking that Fugaku couldn't have known his plan. Only Elder Setsuna knew the plan he had made, and even he didn't know all of it.
Regardless, the Elder's sincerity to him is unquestionable. Unless he was controlled by the Sharingan, it would be impossible for the information to leak.
So, just why did the other party directly named him?
With lots of gaps within the current information he holds, Kayn couldn't figure out what was going on, so he simply asked, "Elder Setsuna, why did the Clan Leader suddenly want me to be in charge of this matter?"
"He said that you have the capabilities to do so. A certain reputation among the Clan members, well efficient, and have a close relationship with Shisui. He can be rest assured if it's you who'll handle this matter." Elder Setsuna said, but his expression quickly changed
"Can't believe he really took me for a senile old man. Did he really think that he could simply say something like that in front of me like I'm some kind of idiot!?"
Even Kayn sneered internally when he heard Fugaku's excuses "Bullsh*t. No way he could say something like that after what happened during the Clan meeting."
As obvious as it is, Kayn suspected that Fugaku probably had other intentions. No way he's that delusional to think that he'll be able to convince them to believe his lame-ass excuses.
In any case, regardless of whoever was behind this, Kayn will make sure not to let everything go their way.
"Elder Setsuna, searching for Shisui's body could also be an opportunity for us!"
Setsuna raised his eyebrows, not understanding why Kayn said that.
"I strongly believe that given all these variables, we should always prepare for the worst. No one can predict the result until we reach the end."
Uchiha Setsuna nodded, approvingly.
They are now taking one step at a time, to see what would happen and how the other party would react. They are taking such a passive approach all because of the reason that their next move is based on the reaction they will get.
"If the plan fails, we must consider how to keep moving on."
This world and the future it holds are too dangerous. Even with the knowledge of the future, nothing remains certain.
That's why a plan cannot only have plan A, but also plan B, C, D, E, and so on. It also needs diversity. It cannot revolve around one kind of idea.
What if the entire coup plan failed? All his plans would then crumble apart. What would happen after that? Does he simply give up and wait for his death?
NO!
There is no shame in running away. At least for Kayn, such a thing doesn't matter.
Since Fugaku already made Hiruzen agree to search for Shisui's body. It would be a shame if Kayn didn't take advantage of this opportunity!
However, given such a fact, the risk of running away alone was still too high. Kayn had to add an extra layer of insurance for himself.
"Elder Setsuna, how many people can enter and exit the barrier without alerting the Konoha?"
Uchiha Setsuna replied "Three."
"Three in a day?!"
"No... In a week."
"... In a week!?" Kayn was clearly disappointed with that.
Three people in a day are already enough to greatly reduce the effectiveness of his escape plan... But by flexibly using the Transformation Technique and Shadow Clone Technique, combined with the other factors, people can be transported out of this place safely.
So overall, that's not too bad.
But three per week!!? That simply throws everything into a dumpster fire. Such a condition is unsalvagable even for Kayn.
Seeing Kayn's expression, Setsuna started to explain the mechanism of Konoha's barrier. Trying to make him understand how complicated it could be, and how three people a week is already a pretty risky move.
But after listening to it, Kayn's eyes suddenly lit up.
He then asked for a map, opened it, and pointed at a certain place, saying...
"The Naka River is huge. It connects Konoha to lots of places across the Land of Fire. We can use the opportunity of searching for Shisui's body to move our clan out!"
Uchiha Setsuna lowered his head in thought.
"That's viable, but Hiruzen won't let us do the search alone. From what I know about him, he will send sensory ninjas to infiltrate the search team."
Kayn had already anticipated this problem.
"Elder Setsuna, the Transformation Technique and Shadow Clone Technique can perfectly solve this problem."
Ninjutsu, especially those that belong to Sensory, is easy to counter once it is studied carefully.
As the initiator and leader of this entire operation, Kayn would be able to also implement such actions smoothly.
In regards to the escape plan itself, Kayn was not worried that the children would become a burden to them. In the first place, he was already thinking of sending all of them away in advance.
Uchiha Setsuna pondered for a moment and said, "Tell me about your plan in detail."
As ordered, Kayn told him everything.
After listening to this, the Elder didn't find any problems and nodded in agreement.
Then, he asked: "You included Uchiha Sasuke in this 'Fire-Escape' operation of yours, are you planning to use him to hold Fugaku and Itachi hostage?"
Kayn shook his head and said sincerely "Since Itachi already joined Konoha's side, and is even willing to harm us all, using Sasuke against him will be useless."
"Actually, knowing that lunatic, he might even kill his little brother with his hand under the guise of freeing him from suffering."
"Overall, my reason for including Sasuke is purely because of his will and dedication to the Clan. When I saw him back then, I saw it in his eyes. Despite his age, he's one of us."
Setsuna breathed a sigh of relief.
He actually kinda hoped that Kayn would be more ruthless. But he also didn't want him to plot against his own people.
"That's great and all but you haven't told me the reason for this yet. Most of the children in the clan are in the academy. Even though I am the elder of the clan, it is difficult for me to give them an explanation."
Hearing this question, Kayn smiled brilliantly and said "And that is the exact reason why this is the easiest part of the plan!"
"We can easily have them out under the pretense that they are just going for a Field Training. This happens almost every day so the best that Konoha could do was send someone to follow them. But the thing is, we're going to send them out in batches." Kayne paused for a second, building up some kind of suspense.
"... Making it easy for us to get rid of these followers when the moment finally came. Because no way they would send out Elite Jonins to watch over these groups of kids. I mean, with our upcoming search for Shisui's body, they would surely want those on us than them, no?"
After listening to Kayn's explanation of the plan, Uchiha Setsuna's eyes lit up... at the same time, he secretly sighed.
Right now, he's starting to doubt whether Kayn was truly a Uchiha's descendant or not.
This style of behavior is really incompatible with theirs!
Even the Elder, given his years of experience, is already slightly embarrassed because even he cannot keep up anymore!
