Chapter 229: To Face The Past

The morning light spilled through Sota's window, stirring him from a restless sleep. His body felt heavy, a reminder of the intense practice session from the day before, but it was the weight in his chest that truly made him sluggish. The letter, the transfer, the impending Regionals—it all churned together, leaving him with a sense of unease he couldn't shake.

Dragging himself out of bed, Sota dressed and made his way downstairs. His mom greeted him with a bright smile as she prepared breakfast, but Sota only managed a half-hearted nod in response. Even Riku, usually buzzing with energy, gave him a curious look.

"You good, bro?" Riku asked, pausing mid-bite of his toast.

"Yeah, just tired," Sota replied, forcing a small smile. He grabbed his bag and left the house before anyone could press further, hoping the walk to school would clear his head.
