Jack then searched the Pirate boss's belongings and found a golden fruit.
"Golden Devil Fruit. The formidable power is average, but I'll absorb it," Jack decided. Having seen the Devil Fruit pictorial, he was familiar with many Devil Fruits and understood the one in his hand. He knew it wasn't one of the top-tier fruits, so he absorbed it directly.
The Golden Devil Fruit was a C-level Devil Fruit. Though it wasn't particularly impressive for Jack, it was still powerful. Compared to the rare S-level fruits like the Gura Gura no Mi, most Devil Fruits were D-level, with A, D, and C-level fruits being common.
Moreover, fruits alone aren't everything; it's the people who make the difference. Even without Devil Fruit abilities, one could still rise to the top of the world.
After a while, Jack looked amazed.
"Ten thousand units of Samsara Power from a C-level Devil Fruit? I didn't expect that. If it had been a developed C-level fruit, it would likely have been worth at least 20,000 units of Samsara Power." Jack muttered to himself, noting the discrepancy.
Half an hour later, Jack left the burning Pirate Ship with the corpse of the Pirate boss and continued on the sea.
"Boss, we made a fortune this time—1,000,000 Bailey!" Xiao Qi looked at the haul in the patrol boat with excitement.
"Ha! Look at your enthusiasm. Just 1,000,000? It's only the beginning," Jack said dismissively, though he was pleased. Coming from a time when he was worth only a few hundred Bailey, 1,000,000 was a substantial sum. Jack pretended to downplay it to maintain his cool.
"Yes, yes, boss is right. This time, capturing the Sword of Death, the second lieutenant position is assured!" Xiao Qi replied flatteringly.
"Regardless of rank, you're all my brothers!" Jack reassured his crew.
"Yes, we're loyal to the boss," Xiao Qi and the others said with enthusiasm.
"Well, the Pirate business is finally winding down. Now, it's time for the next step," Jack said, examining the nautical chart in his hand.
"I hope she's still around and hasn't met a bad fate," Jack murmured, gazing into the distance.
Back at Marine headquarters, Jack handed over the head of the Sword of Death Pirate. He not only received 13 million Bailey in bounty but was also got the second lieutenant.
