Chapter 31: Running and Falling

While Megan waited for her phone, she turned the light on in her closet and packed a large backpack. She packed four changes of clothes, her essentials bag, and her wallet and purse plus a sizeable amount in cash that was available in the closet. Walking back out into the bedroom she saw her phone on the dresser and called her thanks to Mim.

Looking out the balcony window she saw Afton climb into a car then Gabriel climbed into the car after him before it headed down the driveway. Perfect, if they weren't here then they couldn't stop her from leaving. Megan waited until the cars were well out of sight and then yanked on the balcony door. Thankfully it opened. Stepping on the balcony she looked for any way down, then she spied one. The rose trellis went right past the balcony railing. It wouldn't be an easy climb, but it was doable.
