Chapter 126: The search for Ruby

Valerie's head shook vigorously, her hair swinging. "No, Grandma, I'm certain. Ruby's my sister, not my daughter." Her voice rose, a hint of desperation creeping in.

"Miss Valerie, you have a five-year-old daughter," Nanny Rosaline stated, her voice laced with urgency. Saying that, she pulled her phone from her apron, her thumbs hurrying across the screen.

Valerie's eyes widened, her mind reeling. A daughter? Five years old? The words seemed to swirl around her, refusing to settle.

Nanny Rosaline's face was resolute, her eyes locked onto her screen. Fortunately, Ruby had taken a few pictures with her phone when she was there.

Nanny Rosaline fetched out a photo and turned the screen to Valerie. "Here, she's your adorable daughter."

The phone's screen illuminated a small, smiling face, adorned with two cute dimples, big sparkling black eyes like her father's. Her face was framed by curly pigtails. A tiny nose scrunched up in laughter.
