Chapter 25: Making breakfast

Valerie's lashes fluttered open to the gentle touch of Greg's lips on her forehead. "Good morning," he whispered, his breath warm and fresh against her skin.

She smiled, feeling a sense of comfort and security with Greg by her side. "Good morning," she replied, her voice husky from sleep.

Greg sat up on the bed, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. "How was your night? Slept well?" he asked, his hand brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

Valerie stretched, feeling a sense of languor wash over her. "I slept well for the first time in weeks," she said, her eyes locking onto Greg's. "Thanks to you."

Greg's smile deepened, and he leaned in to kiss her forehead again. "Anytime," he whispered.

Valerie's heart swelled with emotion as she gazed up at Greg. She felt grateful that he didn't touch her last night, despite his struggles.
