Chapter 10: [Goblin hunting!]

[North East Hunting Area: Luke's Party!]

[You have killed an F-Grade Monster: Goblin!]

[+200 Points!]

A crisp notification of the [System] appeared in front of Alice as she killed the monster held down by the three boys.

"Finally!" Tristan spoke as he wiped the sweat off his forehead while moving away the monster.

"How many points did you get?" Luke asked as he too got off the goblin they were pinning down.

"200," and Alice answered, as she let go of the short rusty dagger they stole from the goblin.

After a painstaking planning and efforts of 15 minutes, they were finally able to kill the goblin. It was taxing them both mentally and physically but with the combined efforts of everyone, the burden lessened considerably.

"5000 Points for the fireball skill is daylight robber!" Julia grumbled as she counted that they had to kill 19 more of these monsters before they could increase their killing efficiency.

It wasn't fair. But they didn't have any other options either.

"Now, now. We should be grateful that we have enough people to work together and survive. Let's take a 10 minute break before continuing. Given our speed, we should be able to reach our goal by the end of the day," the teacher, Mr Harrison, spoke as he adjusted his glasses before proceeding to use [Heal] on the tired students.

Their synergy was good. As long as they didn't land in any unnecessary trouble, they should be able to survive this Tutorial as well.

"I wonder what Adrian is doing," Mike spoke out as he looked back at the direction where the school was. Even now he was fighting the idea of leaving his friend behind, especially after he helped them survive the 2nd Tutorial.

But not everyone liked his words.

"Forget about that twerp, will you? It's not a world where a weakling like him will survive anyway. You should choose better friends Mike. People on whom you can depend upon," Tristan voiced his opinion. For him, Adrian was already dead. It would be better if other people in this party understood that fact as well.

"You-" Mark was about to fight when Julia chimed in,

"I know he is your friend, but can you be a bit more practical? Have you seen that guy's face? I bet he might even piss his pants in front of these monsters. Trust me Mike, no matter how good natured Adrian was, he is nothing but baggage now. You can't change that fact."

Though hearing those words, made Mark flare up even more. He looked at Julia and Tristan for a few moments before turning to Luke. And when he saw that nobody was supporting him, he made up his mind.

"I am leaving this party."

"Double Kill!" I spoke out with a bit of an excited smile before looking at the two fallen Goblins. I knew it was the right decision to hunt behind the school area.

[Tutorial Level 2 Sub-Quest 2: Kill!

Difficulty: Hard!

Objective: Kill at least 100 Monsters!

Progress: 12/100!

Rewards: [Skill: Hunt!] ]

The [Sub-Quest!] only appeared after I killed 10 monsters, so I guess that's the requirement for this one. While looking at that quest, my eyes then shifted at another part of the [System].

[Points: 2400!]

'Hmmm. Should I buy something?' I thought about it. But then I decided to postpone it until I killed at least 50 of the monsters, or was forced into a condition where I had to use the [Shop!].

"I guess that's enough for a break. Let's continue," I mumbled as I stretched and closed the shop before continuing with my hunt again.

What I did was simple. First decrease my presence with the cloak and the potion, then slowly approach a goblin's back. Then using the enhanced speed and strength, I pushed everything into a single slash, killing the goblin at once.

It was a simple method but worked like a charm. Even the [Trusty Steel Dagger!] sliced the head of the goblin with ease.

[Trusty Steel Dagger!

Grade: D

Attack: 100

Durability: 176/200

Effect:

-Increases Agility by 2]

The durability however was decreasing 2 per slash, so I guess this should last as long as the quest itself. And with that in mind, I moved on to the next den of monsters I could find.

[Perception!]

"There. There and… there. All right," I smiled as I then hastened my steps towards the nearest monster.

Killing monsters in itself wasn't hard. But the fact that I had to make sure that my stealth is maintained while I hunt them, was. If by chance any of the Goblin happen to notice me, then I might end up getting in a fight that would hinder my growth time.

Not something that I would want right now.

Another thing that I was looking for while hunting were the NPCs. Though I did not encounter even a single one, I was sure that there would be some of them here. Perhaps they were afraid of the monsters outside and were hiding in the buildings?

So, I decided to clear the area around and then check one of the houses. Even if I can't find any one, perhaps I can find some food to increase [Save Time] I have.

"??"

Though before I could do that, I encountered something unexpected.

'Is that Goblin different from the rest?' I saw a muscular goblin, who looked twice as menacing as the other goblins.

While normal Goblins carried daggers and wooden maces, this one had a spear. He was also wearing fur over his upper body and had a toothed necklace that seemed to be somewhat special.

Looking at him from a distance, I pondered over a few seconds before deciding it would be better to kill the 4 Goblins around him first. If I can't lure them away, then I will give up trying to kill that special Goblin as well. For now that is.

'How should I lure them?' I pondered over the method before looking at the broken rocks on the ground. A certain basic but feasible idea appeared in my mind.

Picking up a rock from the ground, I then tried the most basic trick. I threw the rock in a direction away from me, prompting the goblins to look into that direction.

Two of the Goblins, who were closer, moved towards the rock with a focused expression. While those away, just stood there with a guarded look on their face.

Moving towards the ones who were a bit away…

-Slash!

-Slash!

-Thud! Thud!

The bodies of the Goblin fell simultaneously, attracting the attention of the other three, while I ran away from there to nearest house that I could see.

Since my presence was almost nil, I did not need to worry much about being found out, but still I hid behind one of the trees inside the garden of the house and waited for the Goblins to come.

And then, a smile appeared on my face as I saw the two goblins entering first. They jumped across the gate, instead of opening it, and began searching for me. Their eyes looked around as they produced strange noises before they moved in different directions within the garden.

Luckily or unluckily, the other goblin still did not enter the garden.

Not wasting this opportunity, I ran towards the closest Goblin.

[You have Killed an F-Grade Monster: Goblin!]

Ignoring the notification, I ran towards the other goblin who was turning around. He has already seen me and was preparing to attack, but before he could do so.

[You have killed an F-Grade Monster: Goblin!]

Turning around immediately, I looked for any signs of that special goblin. And not finding him in the garden yet, I sighed in relief.

'Seems like he isn't as intelligent, either,' I thought as I slowly walked towards the wall and jumped before looking out for him. And yeah, he was pretty much there, confused as he looked at the wall in front of him.

"Nice," I smiled as I moved back into the garden, and tried calling out the white goblin who was managing the entire Tutorial.

"Kuku. Seems like you are having fun," the goblin spoke, alarming me a little. I was worried that he would alarm the warrior goblin but his next words calmed me down.

"Don't worry. Only the players can see or hear me. Anyways, I take it as you want to use the [Shop]?" He asked.

I nodded before browsing through the shop until I came across something similar to what I wanted.

[Weapon Enhancement Potion!

Grade: E

Effect: Increases the attack and effects of the weapon by 20% for 2 Hours

Price: 1000 Points]

Buying that potion, I then immediately used it on the dagger. Even though I was sure that I could kill that goblin in one strike, I still wanted to be sure with it.

Slowly and stealthily, I then jumped across the wall, and moved behind that goblin. Perhaps because he sensed me somewhat, he increased his guard even more, and was prepared for battle.

'One step at a time,' I held my breath and moved closer to him. My eyes observing his movements and my body preparing to run away any moment now.

And as I reached within range, I mustered all my strength and courage and…
