Chapter 3: Family

The first year of my new life as Kazuki Uchiha passed with a flurry of observations and quiet contemplation. Although I was just an infant, my mind was always active, absorbing everything around me. My memories of my past life as a Marine lingered, giving me a unique perspective on the shinobi world.

At the age of two, a significant event occurred: the birth of Kakashi Hatake, the son of the legendary White Fang of the Leaf, Sakumo Hatake.

My mother decide to bring me to see the White Fang, Sakumo Hatake. Before we left she told me she wanted to introduce me to influential and honorable figures within the village, hoping to establish early connections that could benefit my development in the future. Additionally, she was aware of my interest in kenjutsu and believed that meeting Sakumo, a renowned kenjutsu master, could provide inspiration and guidance as I began my shinobi training.

When we arrived at the Hatake compound, an opportunity that left a lasting impression on me. Sakumo greeted us warmly, his demeanor humble despite his legendary status. He held his newborn son, Kakashi, with a gentle yet firm grip, his eyes filled with pride and love.

"Kazuki," my mother said, lifting me up to see the baby. "This is Kakashi. He's just been born."

I looked at the tiny, sleeping infant, feeling a strange sense of kinship. Sakumo smiled at me, his expression kind. "One day, you two might become great friends," he said softly.

Meeting Sakumo and Kakashi left a deep impression on me. I admired Sakumo's strength and integrity, qualities I aspired to develop in myself. Although I was only two, I felt a bond forming, a connection that would undoubtedly influence my future.

As I turned three, my training began in earnest. My uncle, Kagami Uchiha, a skilled and respected shinobi, took charge of my early education. Kagami was patient and thorough, understanding that I was still very young and needed to start with the basics.

Our first lessons focused on chakra control. "Chakra is the foundation of all shinobi techniques," Kagami explained as we sat in a serene garden within the Uchiha compound. "Mastering control over your chakra will enable you to perform various jutsus effectively."

He started with simple exercises, guiding me through the process of feeling and molding chakra within my body. "Close your eyes, Kazuki," he instructed. "Take deep breaths and focus on the energy flowing through you. Visualize it as a river, calm and steady."

I closed my eyes and followed his instructions, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin and the gentle breeze rustling the leaves around us. I focused on the energy within me, picturing it as a river flowing smoothly. Kagami continued, "Now, try to move that river. Direct it to your hands."

I concentrated, feeling the chakra shift and move within me. It was a slow process, but with Kagami's guidance, I began to feel the energy gathering in my hands. I opened my eyes to see a faint glow of chakra enveloping them.

"Well done, Kazuki," Kagami said, a proud smile on his face. "This is the first step. We'll continue to refine your control until it becomes second nature."

Our training sessions became a daily routine, each exercise designed to improve my chakra control. Kagami introduced me to various techniques, including the basic hand seals and how to channel chakra to different parts of my body. His patience and encouragement were invaluable as I practiced diligently, feeling the energy flow within me and learning to control it with precision.

One of the first techniques Kagami taught me was a sound-based genjutsu. He explained, "This genjutsu relies on subtlety. You'll use a snapping rhythm, blending it into the background of a fight or a conversation, to gradually trap your opponent in an illusion."

He demonstrated the technique, snapping his fingers in a rhythmic pattern that was almost hypnotic. "The key is to make the rhythm unnoticeable," he said. "Your opponent shouldn't realize they're being affected until it's too late."

I practiced the snapping rhythm, learning to blend it into my movements. At first, it was challenging to maintain the subtlety required, but with Kagami's guidance, I improved. I learned to snap my fingers in a way that would go unnoticed, creating a gentle background noise that could trap an opponent in a genjutsu without them realizing it.

---

Though eager to start kenjutsu training, Kagami advised that I was too young for such rigorous practice. Instead, we focused on taijutsu and physical conditioning. Each day, Kagami put me through various exercises to build my strength, agility, and endurance. We sparred often, with Kagami teaching me the fundamentals of close-quarters combat.

"Keep your stance low and balanced," Kagami instructed during one of our sparring sessions. "Always be ready to move and adapt."

I followed his advice, mimicking his movements and practicing the techniques he demonstrated. The physical exertion reminded me of my time in the Marine Corps, and I found solace in the familiar routine of exercise and improvement. Kagami was a stern but encouraging teacher, pushing me to my limits while ensuring I learned each technique properly.

The year also brought another significant change to my life: the birth of my cousin, Shisui Uchiha. Shisui's mother died in childbirth, leaving Kagami to raise him alone. I felt a deep sense of responsibility toward my baby cousin, vowing to protect and support him as he grew. Though I was only three, I took my role as his older brother seriously, watching over him whenever I could.

As Shisui grew, our bond strengthened. He was a cheerful and curious child, always eager to explore and learn. I often found myself entertaining him, playing simple games and telling stories. Despite the challenges, Kagami managed to balance his duties as a shinobi with raising Shisui and training me. The three of us formed a close-knit family, united by love and shared goals.

---

One day, while exploring the Uchiha compound, I found myself in the armory. The sight of the traditional shinobi armor fascinated me. It was sturdy and functional, but I couldn't help but notice areas where improvements could be made. I thought about the advanced body armor from my past life and how its principles could enhance shinobi gear. Concepts like layered protection and impact distribution swirled in my mind.

I imagined creating a protective gear similar to Kevlar, infusing it with chakra to enhance its properties. The idea of a railgun or another advanced weapon to defend the village also crossed my mind. I was still too young to start building or experimenting, but I made a mental note to pursue these ideas in the future. For now, I focused on gathering knowledge, observing the construction and materials used in shinobi armor, and planning my innovations.

---

Despite my young age, my determination to merge the knowledge from my past life with the skills and traditions of my new one grew stronger each day. My training sessions with Kagami, my interactions with Sakumo and Kakashi, and my role as Shisui's older brother all contributed to shaping my path. As I continued to develop my abilities, I felt a growing sense of purpose and excitement. The journey ahead was filled with challenges, but with each step, I was getting closer to becoming a shinobi who could protect my family and contribute to the strength of the Uchiha clan.
