Chapter 69: The Apology

My mind was still on Noah when I walked into the Pine Press lounge.

I was more interested in the fact that he was unable to find anything on me.

This had to be a mixture of my father and the system. Why else will information about me be so non-existent?

I had been a student and was in a few public records. I've spent most of my life in Crownsborough.

So, if he couldn't find out about me, there clearly was something extraordinary at play here.

I didn't know what to think of the background check. On one hand, I couldn't blame him and on the other, I had things to hide.

I guess it worked out pretty well.

My attention was pulled back to the present when one of my Pine Press acquaintances greeted me.

"Oh, hi." I greeted back. "I'm doing great. How are you?"

We exchanged pleasantries and I went on my way.

I looked up to the now familiar lounge. Club members occupied certain tables, discussing among themselves.
