After leaving Guo Xiaopeng's villa, Wang Jingfei hurried towards Haizhou Tower.
As she quickly entered the lobby, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she was shocked and slightly excited—it was Li Xinjian.
"Can we meet?"
"No, I'm about to go on a trip."
"I just want to say a few words," Li Xinjian pleaded.
Wang Jingfei sighed, "Where are you?"
Li Xinjian's excited voice replied, "In the little garden of your building. Turn right when you exit, and you'll see me." Almost simultaneously, a taxi pulled up in the plaza, and Yang Chun stepped out. He wore a dirty suit jacket over frayed jeans and a baseball cap, with a fake beard stuck on his face. As he walked into the building, Wang Jingfei rushed past him, failing to recognize him due to his clever disguise and her preoccupied mind.
As Wang Jingfei exited the building and turned right into the garden, Yang Chun jogged upstairs to the second floor and entered a restroom that overlooked the garden.
Li Xinjian and Wang Jingfei sat side by side on a long bench, a few pigeons pecking at the ground nearby. Li Xinjian whispered, "I pretty much know everything now."
Wang Jingfei glanced at him but said nothing.
Li Xinjian hugged her tightly, his eyes moist and throat tight. He could deeply understand the pain, helplessness, loneliness, and torment she endured while maneuvering through the criminal underworld. Meanwhile, in the restroom, Yang Chun used a long-distance listening device to eavesdrop on their conversation and intermittently snapped photos with a telephoto lens.
As Liu Mei entered the villa, she found Guo Xiaopeng packing.
"Going on a trip?" she asked.
Guo Xiaopeng nodded indifferently, not wanting to engage with her.
"Did you pack your pajamas?" she asked, seemingly concerned.
He ignored her, continuing to pack.
"I know I'm not welcome here," she said, taking out a tape and some photos from her bag, "but take a look and listen to this!"
He sneered, "Got a new voice actor this time?"
Her heart ached; she wished she could open her chest to show him her sincerity, "Xiaopeng, I would never harm you. That woman, Wang, is not to be trusted!" Guo Xiaopeng straightened up, glanced at her, and said, "A woman's jealousy is like a sharp knife—it can kill."
At Shenzhen Airport, Guo Xiaopeng and Wang Jingfei walked out of the security area, carrying light luggage. "I feel so relaxed as soon as I leave Haizhou," Guo Xiaopeng said. Wang Jingfei asked why. Guo Xiaopeng smiled, saying it felt like the burdens of responsibility and pressure were lifted. Outside the airport, the city's unique hustle and bustle greeted them. After getting into a taxi, Wang Jingfei asked where they were going to eat. Guo Xiaopeng laughed and instructed the driver, "To the Wild Garden Restaurant in the western suburbs." A middle-aged man tailing them watched the taxi's taillights disappear into the night and quickly reported, "They're here, but they're heading to the suburbs, not staying in the city."
Yang Chun got out of bed, dressed, and said to Liu Mei, "I have to go." Liu Mei stretched, "It's been quiet these days. Staying one more night shouldn't be an issue." While tying his tie, Yang Chun replied, "We live on the edge of a knife; one wrong move, and it's the end for us."
His words were cut short by the sudden ringing of the doorbell. Liu Mei opened the monitor, and Li Xinjian's image appeared on the screen. She panicked and whispered to Yang Chun, "What do we do?"
Yang Chun quickly ran to the floor-to-ceiling window, silently opened it, and jumped out. Liu Mei opened the door, and Qiang Min led a group of police officers in, cuffing her despite her protests.
Early in the morning, Guo Xiaopeng woke Wang Jingfei. They quickly ate breakfast and arrived at the Elizabeth Hotel at the appointed time.
They waited in the agreed room, over an hour passing with only a bodyguard accompanying them. Growing impatient, Guo Xiaopeng told the bodyguard, "If Mr. Shi doesn't show in ten minutes, I'll assume you lack the sincerity to negotiate."
The bodyguard hurriedly left the room.
Wang Jingfei, uneasy, asked, "Is Mr. G playing with us?" Guo Xiaopeng thought for a moment, "I don't think so. This deal has been in the works for over a year. It'd be too costly to play games now."
The bodyguard soon returned, expressionless, "Mr. G has notified us that the meeting location has changed."
Guo Xiaopeng stared at him, surprised, "Where?"
The bodyguard replied dryly, "Please follow me."
Guo Xiaopeng's temper flared, "If you don't tell me the exact location, I'm not going!" The bodyguard said, "The meeting is in Guangzhou."
The three of them left the hotel. Outside, Guo Xiaopeng moved towards his rental car. The bodyguard politely insisted, "Please take our car."
