Edward looked at the small gift box on the table, picked it up to examine it, and then shook it vigorously. He didn't hear any sound, so he gently untied the ribbon. The box automatically unfolded, revealing a card inside.
Edward picked up the card and discovered an introduction to it.
[Equipment Upgrade Card: After use, it can upgrade the host's equipment.]
"Interesting, why not give it a try?" Edward placed his dual pistols on the table and used the Equipment Upgrade Card on them. In the next second, a flash of light passed by, and the two silver pistols changed. Golden patterns appeared on the gun bodies before a new description was also revealed.
[Roland's Pistols: Two pistols made from the broken sword of King Arthur's Excalibur.]
"NEET~ these actually turned into Roland's pistols. Interesting, really interesting~" Edward couldn't help but laugh because these two Roland's pistols were the weapons used by the last gunslinger in "The Dark Tower."
Edward picked them up, ejected the bullets from the chambers, and with a flick, listened to the crisp sound of the chambers rotating, his smile becoming harder to suppress.
At that moment, his phone beeped. He picked it up and saw that the ten million dollars had been credited to his account. He immediately put the two guns in the holsters at his waist, donned a leather coat, and completely hid the holsters.
Soon, he arrived at Old Jack's grocery store and tapped his bank card on the counter.
"Got the money?" Jack stood up and casually took out the latest POS machine from the counter, swiping away ten thousand dollars.
Jack also saw the remaining balance on the card and was somewhat surprised.
"You made ten million from this trip!"
"Yeah, I told you, my business is very profitable," Edward raised his eyebrows at Jack.
"By the way, I have a commission here. See if you want to take it."
"A commission? What kind? From whom?"
"I can only tell you that this task is very tricky. If you want to take it, I'll have someone come directly to you," Jack said calmly.
"No problem, I'll take it. There's no commission our firm wouldn't dare to accept," Edward said while patting his own shoulders. I mean, who doesn't want commission and rewards that would bring him afterwards.
"Alright, I'll give your address to the client. You just need to wait for them to come to you. Now shu, shu!"
Edward shrugged, bought some food from a street vendor, and went back to the office. He also bought a cushion, placed it in the corner, and put the two mysterious eggs, which he got from system starter pack, on it.
Thanks to the simple renovation, the temperature inside the office was maintained at 26 degrees Celsius, so these two eggs would hatch after being placed there for few days.
After placing the cushion, Edward began eating his lunch. Once he was full and satisfied, he planned to rest, but a sudden knock on the door interrupted him.
"Come in!"
An elderly man, leaning on a cane, walked in. As soon as he entered, he got straight to the point, "Is it true that you can take any commission here?"
"You must be the client Jack mentioned. Please, have a seat," Edward gestured to the chair opposite him, his voice containing respect.
The old man sat down and took out a card, saying, "This is an anonymous Swiss bank card with all my savings, a total of ten million probably. I know it's not much, but it's everything I have."
"Don't get worked up, dear client. First, tell me about your commission."
"Revenge. My son's entire family was killed by a vampire. I want you to find that vampire and bring it to me," the old man said bitterly, his eyes filled with anger.
"Hold on a second. Did you say a vampire?"
"That's right. Here is the video of my son's family's murder, along with images of those vampires." The old man took out a tablet, closing his eyes tightly, unable to bear watching the video of his son's family being killed.
But Edward had no such qualms. He turned on the tablet and opened a video on the screen. It was a surveillance recording showing a family of five having dinner. Suddenly, a group of people burst in. The male head of the family reacted quickly, drawing his gun and firing, but the intruders, unaffected by the bullets, rushed to the dining table and removed their masks.
The man seemed to recognize something, his pupils contracting sharply as he tried to say something. However, the intruders immediately bit his neck, sucking his blood. They did the same to the woman and even to the three children. In no time, the entire family was drained dry, reduced to corpses. The vampires then scanned the surroundings, their faces captured by the surveillance camera.
There were three vampires in total, two men and one woman. After memorizing their facial features, Edward sighed, "Your commission is for me to capture these three vampires and bring them to you, correct?"
"Exactly."
"In that case, let's sign the commission agreement." With a flick of his hand, a familiar parchment scroll appeared. They both signed their names, and the client pressed his bloody fingerprint on it. The parchment then spontaneously combusted and disappeared.
"Client, come here in two days to pick them up."
"Two days, right?"
"That's right."
"Good, I hope you won't disappoint me." The old man then left, while Edward locked the office door and headed back to Old Jack's grocery store.
"What is it this time?" Jack asked without looking up.
"Get me some silver-plated bullets. Imma goin' to hunt some vampire asses."
"You took that commission? Aren't you afraid of vampires?"
"Are you kidding? Why would I be afraid of them? Hell, I plan to sizzle their balls on a silver grill with garlic seasoning!" Edward raised his brow.
"How many rounds?"
"Three hundred."
"One thousand dollars. Come back in two hours."
"No problem." Edward swiped his card and left. He then drove to a blacksmith's shop.
"Uncle Nas here?" Edward called out as he pushed open the door.
A towering man over two meters tall with bulging muscles came out. Just his presence was intimidating.
"Ed, what brings you here?"
"Heh, I need your help forging a weapon."
"What kind of weapon?"
"This sword. Have you heard of it?" Edward asked, showing him a pic.
Nas narrowed his eyes and thought for a moment before saying, "I remember now, it's a type of cold weapon from the East, right?"
"That's right. Can you forge one that's both strong and incorporates pure silver?"
"Pure silver? That will compromise the quality of the blade and be quite expensive. Are you planning to use it against vampires?"
"Yes, it's specifically for vampires. How soon can you make it?"
"In a hurry? I've got other orders to fill," Nas said.
"It's urgent."
"Then come back tonight. I'll prioritize it for you. One thousand dollars."
"Deal. I'll pay by card."
After paying, Edward left the blacksmith's shop. The next thing he needed to do was locate the three vampires. Since teleportation wasn't an option, he knew the vampires were in New York. Finding them would take some time, but Hell's Kitchen, with its prevalence of gangs, was also a hotspot for information. If you had the money, you could even get the President's schedule.
Edward headed to a bar, found the bartender, and placed a hundred-dollar bill on the counter. "I need to find three people."
"No problem. Detailed locations will cost fifty thousand dollars per person," the bartender said, taking the hundred-dollar bill.
Edward handed over images of the three vampires from the surveillance video. The bartender glanced at them and said, "Tonight at eight, someone will deliver their real-time locations to your doorstep. Please pay 150,000 dollars."
Edward swiped his card and left. Now he just needed to wait until evening to get all his equipment and the locations of the three vampires.
