Damien and Mira trudged through dense forest, their faces streaked with exhaustion yet tinged with determination. After the ambush at the fortress, they needed a safe haven. Word had reached them of an ancient sanctuary hidden deep within the mountains—a place where undead could not pass. Local legends claimed it held secrets that could turn the tide against the Zombie King.

The sun was setting by the time they reached the sanctuary’s entrance, a vast stone arch half-swallowed by twisted vines and overgrowth. Stepping into its shadow, Damien felt a strange sense of calm wash over him, as though the sanctuary itself held a forgotten power. Mira noticed it too, her shoulders visibly relaxing for the first time in days.

“This place feels…different,” Mira whispered, her voice filled with reverence. “Like it’s been waiting for us.”
