Damien Rook stood on the shore of Silver Lake, its calm surface glistening under the moonlight. The night was quiet—too quiet. This place was known for its beauty, but also for the dark legends surrounding it. Somewhere beneath the water, a creature was said to lurk, dragging those who ventured too close to a watery grave. Damien wasn’t here for legends, though. He was hunting a murderer.

Beside him, Lena’s fingers brushed against his arm. “You sure about this?” she asked softly, her voice carrying a hint of doubt. They had been through a lot together, but this felt different—more personal.

Damien’s eyes scanned the mist that clung to the lake’s edge. “The bodies of the victims were all found near the lake. It’s the only clue we’ve got,” he replied.
