Chapter 72: WRONG TIMING

“How on earth, Fiona? A romance movie??” Ali practically yelled, while my mouth was stuffed with atenwa, so I just nodded along, probably a little too eagerly.

“You have to watch! You make me sit through boring football games all the time, and I never complain,” she shot back, crossing her arms. Ming chuckled from his spot. “It’s not so bad, Ali.”

“La hawla!” Ali groaned dramatically. “Of course you’d say that—you’re in love! What about Chester and me?”

I finally managed to swallow. “Right!” I chimed in, backing him up. “Why did I even let her pick?”

“Chester!” Fiona glared at me, and I quickly turned to Ali.

“Uh, it’s not that bad…” I backpedaled.

Ali shook his head in disbelief. “Why are you always so scared of her?” He rolled his eyes, wincing as Fiona stepped on his toe with a little smirk. “Cuz I’m just a girl!” she said sweetly, trying to look all innocent.

Ali sighed, turning back to me. “You know what I hate the most?”
