13.72% Falling For My CEO / Chapter 7: REVENGE GONE WRONG

Chapter 7: REVENGE GONE WRONG

EMILY'S STANDPOINT

What I despised the most more than cockroaches were rich people and those who felt like they were better off than others because they were fortunate to be born with a silver spoon in their mouths.

Just few hours working with the CEO, I was already infuriated and close to blowing up in anger.

He was infuriating and immature. Every minute my eyes lands on him I wish he could just drop dead and save me the torture of having to kill him myself.

This would be the tenth time I was returning back to coffee shop and the lady in charge already arranged the ingredients she thinks I'll need, expecting me.

"Less bitter, more chilled with a touch of spice?" She asked and I shook my head, amused, placing the pompous asshole's cup on the counter.

"So what was the problem this time around?" She asked, grinning and I huffed, totally worn out from having to walk back and forth countless times just to please a spoilt asshole.

"He said, he wants a cold espresso this time around no longer a hot espresso after getting pissed at me for suggesting a cold espresso," I snorted, grabbing some candy from the bowl beside her and throwing it into my mouth.

"Does he have a dysfunctional taste bud?" The counter girl asked, giggling.

"More like he has a loose nut in his head," I replied, rolling my eyes.

"So what would it be? Do you have a special way you would love me to make the cold espresso?"  she asked and a wicked idea popped up in my head.

If he wanted something special, I would give him something special.

"Will it be too much to ask if I make it myself to save you to torture of making it?" I asked, smiling sweetly.

"You've done enough already and I wouldn't want to stress you any further," I added, trying to convince her.

"I appreciate your kind gesture but with the look in your eyes that's just an excuse. You have a wicked gleam in your eyes that tells me that you have something mischievous up your sleeve," she smirked, reading me perfectly well.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I whistled, looking away and she rolled her eyes not convinced.

"Your secret is safe with me," she winked at me, walking out of the counter and giving me passage.

"You just have to be fast with it, my boss is kinda psycho and I can't really say what her reaction would be when she sees a customer making something herself."

"That makes the two of us then, we both have weirdos and psychos as bosses," I chortled.

"True," she giggled, agreeing with me.

"But I'm way more luckier than you are because my boss is way more tolerable than yours."

I sighed, unable to deny it. I was quite unlucky to have an asshole as my boss so I'm a bit jealous when I see people lucky to have nice bosses.

"I better get to it then, I wouldn't want Mr. CEO to tear the entire building down his infuriating voice," I sneered and she chortled, totally amused.

"I'm Leona by the way," she introduced and it occurred to me that I didn't even know her name. She was fun to relate with and with how frustrating my boss is, it skipped my mind to ask for her name.

"Excuse my bad manners," I apologize, making a bow dramatically.

"I'm Emily, Emily Davis."

"Nice to meet you Emily Davis, I hope you survive Alexander's tantrums and you last longer than the others," she grinned mischievously, walking away and I frowned.

Why did she call his name so formally like they were acquainted or close?

Who were the others she was talking about?

Were there people unfortunate like me to have worked with him?

I thought about it but couldn't come up with an link or connection with what a pompous asshole like Alexander will have to do with a ordinary counter girl, selling espressos.

My phone rang out loudly, bringing me out of my thoughts.

I frowned, seeing a strange number but I picked it either ways.

"Hello..."

"If you're not here in the next 5mins you're fired!" He threatened, dropping the call immediately and my eyes widened in horror.

I hate Alexander Knight with every fibre in my body but I can't get fired no matter what.

I made the cold espresso and rushed out of the coffee shop, racing to the firm while being careful so as not to spill the drink.

I got to the elevator and saw it closing already.

"Wait! Wait! Wait!" I yelled, running to catch up but unfortunately for me I was not fast enough. The elevator door shut close before I got there.

I growled and stomped my foot on the ground in frustration, panting heavily.

I had just 2 mins left. I wouldn't make it in time if I decide to wait for the elevator. So the only option I had left was to make use of the stairs.

I still wouldn't make it in time but it was better than waiting for the elevator and wasting more time.

"Dear God, you'll have to forgive me if I decide to murder this asshole," I prayed silently, rushing to take the stairs to his office.

I ran like my whole life depended on it and I got to the front of his office almost out of breath. Not thinking, I barged into his office again and he glared daggers at me.

"What did I say—" I rushed out of the of office without allowing him complete his words and knocked loudly on his door.

"Come in," he said, his deep voice reverberating around the room.

I immediately rushed in and placed the espresso on top of his table in his front, stepping back and avoiding eye contact.

"What took you so long?" He asked coldly and even without looking I could feel him glaring at me.

"There were other customers waiting in line to be attended to and—"

"Did you tell the shop owner who wanted the espresso?"

I bit my lips not knowing the best reply to give him that wouldn't jeopardize Leona's work. I wouldn't want to land Leona in any trouble of sort.

"I'm sorry," I simply apologized.

"But if you were more decisive about what you wanted, I wouldn't have delayed this much. I had to come up with your annoying description of perfect for the espresso," I defended, glaring at him from my side eyes.

"You now talk back at me?"

"No, I'm just explaining in simple english why I was delayed and carefully pointing out to you that you were the cause of everything," I replied, looking up.

He scoffed in disbelief, pushing his hair backwards. If he wasn't so annoying I would agree with his fan girls that he was actually cute.

But what was beauty when he was dumb? It simply made him undesirable and ugly.

"So, in a nutshell you're trying to say that I am indecisive and inconsiderate?" He asked, frowning.

Yes, you are, I replied in my head but I would be crazy to actually say it directly to his face.

"That's not what I mean Mr. CEO," I replied, biting back my true words. If I wanted to survive without landing in prison I would have to tolerate him no matter how stupid and annoying he is.

"I'm sorry, sir," I apologized.

"You're always sorry but never sorry," he snorted, getting up.

I kept my eyes on the ground, watching my toes. I wouldn't want to look up and meet his eyes.

He slowly approached me and stopped in front of me.

"Look up!" He ordered and I slowly raised my head up, meeting his eyes. He had the cup of espresso in his hands and I couldn't help but wonder what he had planned in his head.

"Here drink it," he stretched the espresso to me and my blood froze that instant.

"Take it as my gratitude for keeping up with my inconsiderate attitude for the past few hours."

I glanced down at the cup in his hands and back at his face and gulped loudly, not knowing what to do.

"I can't accept this, Mr. CEO," I giggled, nervously, pushing the cup back to him.

He glared at my hand and I immediately retrieved it seeing that I crossed the line by touching him.

"I insist," he said.

"But—"

"Emily Davis, take the espresso and drink it!" He ordered, leaving no room for argument.

I glanced at the cup one more time and gulped. I was screwed if I drank it. I was also screwed if I didn't.

I looked up to see him still watching me expectantly with a suspicious look in his eyes, waiting for me to grab the cup.

I'll just pretend to drink it, I decided within myself and slowly took the cup from his hands.

I brought the cup to my mouth and pretended to drink out of it before bringing it down.

"Hmmm, it's really nice. You really should have drank this Mr. CEO," I said, smiling.

"Really?" He asked, walking back to his seat to settle down and I sighed in relief.

"Yes," I nodded positively.

"Alright then, since it's really good I want you to drink all of it and not a single drop should remain."

"Sir?" I asked, not sure if I heard well.

"I said drink it all Emily. Take it as my way of saying welcome to the company," he smirked devilishly as though aware of my evil scheme.

"I don't—" I swallowed my words when I saw the look he gave me.

I had no way out of this. I either had to drink the coffee or face the unknown consequences of disobeying him.

There was only one thing to do. To escape drinking the coffee, I had to let go of the cup and let it fall to the ground, making it look like a mistake on my part.

I made up my mind to do just that, having no other choice.

"There are only two of those cups in your hands that have been made. One is with my mother, the other is presently in your hands. Each of those cups cost nothing less than 2 million dollars."

"2 million dollars!" I yelled in horror, tightening my grip around the cup now scared to let it break.

"Yes, 2 million dollars. If anything happens to it you either have to recompensate me for the cup or you get me one exactly of the same quality and product," he replied, smirking.

Alexander Knight was a devil. How in God's name did he know that I was going to consider letting the cup slip from my hands and break to pieces?

"I'm waiting, drink up and return my cup to me."

Ok, I was dead for real this time around and there was no way out of this one. I either have to drink this espresso or explain to him why I wouldn't want to drink it and risk landing in prison once my reason comes into the light.

"Thank you Mr. CEO," I smiled tight-lipped and he nodded, watching me.

I brought the cup to my mouth and without thinking, I gulped everything down in one breath.

"So, how was it?" He asked, grinning and I bit my lips trying to stop myself from throwing up.

"It was perfect Mr. CEO. This has to be the best espresso I have been opprtuned to drink." I said, holding back the tears in my eyes. My insides were burning and twisting in protest over what I just drank.

I should never have messed with his drink.

"Great, you can go. Get rid of the cup on your way out."

"What!" I yelled, bug-eyed.

"Do you have a problem with that?" He asked coldly.

"You said the cup was—"

"That was for you to know the price in case you break it but I can choose to do whatever I like with the cup and get a new one when I'm ready," he bragged.

I glared at him murderously, wishing I could strangle him this moment.

"You can leave my office now Emily," he said but I didn't respond.

I grabbed my stomach, feeling the aftermath of drinking the poison I made to get back out Alexander.

I growled in pain, crouching down on my knees as I felt my insides being roasted.

"Emily?" Alexander called, horrified.

"Are you ok?" He rushed to my side, crouching down beside me and I felt something, coming up my throat.

I looked up at him and met his eyes, filled with worry.

"I'm sorry Mr. CEO." He looked at me confused and scared not knowing why I was apologizing.

Without holding back, I puked the entire content of my stomach on him, sending him into a state of shock.

If I wasn't dead before, I definitely was now.
