Chapter 53: Brothers in Arms

The day was warm and the sun blazed overhead, though there was plenty of shade on the patio, I was comfortably seated in a nice chair, with my enlarged feet resting comfortably on a footstool. All this, while being thirsty, and four weeks pregnant with twins literally made me look for a comfortable posture to be in all the time. I moved a little, attempting to relieve the weight on my lower back.

"Need anything, sweetheart?" Lucas called from inside the house.

I smiled, touched by his constant attentiveness. "I'm good, thanks. Just enjoying the sunshine."

Lucas came into the room, and he looked like the nude male model he is, although he dresses unfashionably in shorts and a t- shirt. It is actually the first day off for both of us, we were enjoying the moment before everything will change at the arrival of our sons.

"You sure? No cravings for pickles and ice cream?" he teased, coming to sit beside me.
