Chapter 49: The Long-Awaited Union

…I turned on the lights that I had switched off when his breath evened out. When he woke up from his nightmare, he didn't pull away to hide from me. I cleaned his sweat with towels and we tried to go back to sleep. 

He only drew me to his chest and said "It was my R&R but I decided to join my guys on duty…"

"Leila, stay still!" Someone said from the audience. Leila's only response was to giggle louder. At three years old, she was already an auspicious menace to the family. 

Leila walked down the aisle, in a white gown and steady feet. Her hair was supposed to be in two ponytails but she must have pulled the rubber because only one ponytail was still in shape, the other was a mass of brown, curly hair. She walked slowly as she threw flowers in her path. "Brittany is walk-ing tooo slow," she said loudly and everybody laughed.
