Chapter 33: Breakfast with Brittany

…I wanted to say that I was not drunk but I think I giggled before lying down on a soft bed. If I knew, I would have looked at Lucas a little bit more, memorize his hair and smile. I should have run my hands through his hair like he does. 

How could I have known that thousands of days and miles would be between us? 

Not for once that night did I imagine that everything I felt for 'pretty face' would turn sour.

Lieutenant Mark's body was a few distance away when they started firing at me. I heard a loud sound and then I didn't hear anything again. The whole world was quiet aside from my heavy breathing. 

"What's this?" I asked no one in particular.

Someone was running their hands all over my chest. I tried to grab the invisible hand and my eyes flew open.

"Lucas, mmm"
