…Isn't it funny that despite my pent-up anger all the years, I could not let her go when I found her? The guys in my platoon could not fill the void she left. 

The only indication that I did not imagine the call except the call log was the text she must have sent when my breath went even. 

-Have a restful sleep, Lucas. Remember when the first time you spelt off on a call?

I smiled and then I frowned.

I remembered that it was my first day of college and the first time I realized that I liked her more than a friend.

At a young age, it was pretty evident that I was confident and had good public speaking skills. It was one day when a teacher said something that I don't even remember now to a kid, I stood up for the kid. Not because I wanted to but because no one was going to do it.
