Chapter 4: chapter 4

Life as a slave was hell. I had to work almost 20 hours a day and was whipped every hour. The guards enjoyed torturing the children and would beat them just to see them cry. They usually whipped you when you were in the middle of carrying something so you had to drop it and they had a reason to whip you even more. All I could say was that these cult members were sadistic bastards. I also heard that several female and male children were raped by the guards.

We were also tortured in a chamber as test subjects or guinea pigs so they could test their magical power on us.

It was painful and every day I lost hope. There was nothing I could do to stage a coup. We had to somehow defeat the magical troops that appeared when you tried to harm a cultist.

On top of that, I only knew Reinforcements and my magic was 92 locked down. I knew all the spells for my special dragon slayer magic after Sage woke up 4 years ago, but to use dragon slayer magic you need a certain level of strength and so I've only been using reinforcement for the last 4 years.

However, the good thing was that my magic container or origin was extremely large, even with only 8% of my magic available, it was still a considerable amount.

However, the magic of the spatial dragon slayer also consumed a lot of magical power and every space-oriented attack spell I had couldn't be used in quick succession. To escape with brute force, I had to fight multiple magic troops, which meant I had to cast spells left and right, which wasn't possible unless I found a way to remove those shackles.

There was another option, which was a spell called Space Dragon: Greater Teleport. With this, I could teleport to the place I had in mind, but I needed the sub-skill Space Awareness to teleport properly, and my body wasn't strong enough to do it with the boost of only 8% of my magic. My skills were powerful, but they cost me a lot of strength since I was still a beginner.

Sage's calculation could be used as a substitute for spatial awareness, but that still left the problem with the shackles and the amplification of my body.

I was in my cell when a cultist walked up to my prison cell and shouted. "Brat, come here and follow me, you're being transferred".

As I had no other choice, I got up and followed the cultist.

I was brought before a group of men who wore white hats and had their faces covered with a red cloth. They were all dressed uniformly and some of them were carrying several devices.

I knew these people from Ultear's backstory, they were from the Bureau of Magical Development.

The devices were connected to me and a cultist noted down several values on a screen. I waited for an opportunity when they'd remove my handcuffs, but that day wasn't today.

"Alright kid, follow us." The man ordered and I was taken to a small Ariel ship and locked in a room on the ship.

(2 hours later).

It was an extremely tall building that seemed to be made of metal and its shape strongly resembled a crescent moon. It leaned with one edge against the floor and was held up by a series of massive, dark, cable-like structures that connected the lower, curved part to the floor. At the base of the building and scattered here and there around the entire mass were red parts protruding outwards in various directions, while the rest of the building was a metallic colour and many more slender parts, reminiscent of antennae or pipes, protruded around the entire circumference.

I was led inside by the group of men before one of them offered me a set of clothes and simply pointed to a room.

"We'll be there in ten minutes with your food, you'll be dressed by then and from today you'll be subject 008".

"Test subject... am I being experimented on?".

"Yes, but it won't hurt as long as you co-operate. If you refuse an order, you'll be sent back to the tower." Said the man.

"All right... but won't you take the handcuffs off me". I asked and tried my luck

"We know you can use magic to keep them on." He said.

Then I was asked to change again and after a while, the man came back with a tray.

"Eat quickly, then we'll start the affinity test".

I ate and took my time... I knew from Ultear's backstory that what these monsters did in human skin would hurt like hell and I wasn't sure I'd live another day to save good food.

After the meal, I was taken to another room and strapped to a machine to get readings.

[Lab worker POV].

This child had a large origin, much larger than any we had seen before. The boy also had some other anomalous characteristics, such as his body absorbing ethernano from the air much better than any other subjects we had seen so far.

I wanted to run more tests on him to get a good enough report to introduce him to Master Brain.

We have to be careful not to break him, he's too valuable a test subject.

-------

[Jin POV]

I was put through several tests where magic was pumped into my body to see how it reacted. Then I was strapped to a machine that did the opposite and started draining my magical power, leaving me without magic for a long time.

The next day I was woken up and physically examined, then taken back to my room.

[Brain POV].

I read the latest report on the new subject 008. It was just phenomenal we needed to test him and his affinity further and get more out of his magic, but in due course, he could be a candidate for the 5 available slots.

I smiled as I imagined a world below me where chaos reigned.

-------

The following days were hell. I was constantly zapped with a magical device connected to a strange sun and moon statue, and I was pushed to my limits in several classes. And finally, after 20 days of hell, I was brought to a meeting with the head of the office, Hancho.
