Chapter 18: Weapons

After a morning of hard work, Sylas finally completed his task of killing one hundred zombies.

Feeling joyful, he quickly opened the system interface to check.

Sure enough, today's task was completed, and the reward, a Desert Eagle with unlimited ammo, was already in the system interface.

Sylas could claim his reward at any time.

The system interface could store prizes, but once taken out, they couldn't be stored back.

However, this wasn't much of an issue, as Sylas had his own dimensional space for storage.

Silently, a shiny silver Desert Eagle appeared in Sylas's hand.

The Desert Eagle was large and hefty, feeling heavy in his hand.

A woman without enough strength probably couldn't handle this gun.

The recoil should also be substantial, making it unsuitable for someone with little strength.

Luckily, Sylas's strength had been enhanced; otherwise, he wouldn't be able to use this gun.

Sylas wanted to remove the magazine to check it out.

He then realized the magazine couldn't be removed.

The entire gun was integrated, impossible to disassemble.

He couldn't see how many bullets were in the magazine, but since this was the unlimited ammo version, there was no need to worry about running out of bullets.

With the gun in hand, Sylas felt a heightened sense of security.

Moreover, Sylas wanted to test the gun's power.

A random task appeared: "Kill one hundred zombies with the gun. Reward: Firearms Mastery skill."

Sylas was delighted, silently praising the system for being so considerate.

Just after receiving the handgun, the system issued a firearms mastery task.

It was perfect timing.

Sylas didn't know how to use firearms yet. With the firearms mastery skill, he could overcome this weakness.

Killing one hundred zombies with a gun would be an easy task.

However, gunfire would attract attention, and Sylas had already killed most of the zombies here.

It wouldn't be wise to continue killing zombies in this location.

Sylas planned to move to a different location to continue killing zombies.

On his way down, Sylas chose to take the elevator, reaching the first floor in no time.

The first floor was still the same, with a group of zombies gathered at the entrance.

Sylas walked out from the midst of the zombies, now carrying the stench of corpses on him.

There was no helping it; he just had to endure it.

To take a shower, he would have to wait until he got back home.

Sylas had no intention of firing his gun in the neighborhood.

The gunfire would easily attract a large number of zombies and the attention of other survivors.

So Sylas planned to kill zombies on the street after leaving the neighborhood.

He exited the complex and leisurely walked onto the street, then entered an alley.

At the end of the alley was a fence, and beyond the fence was another street.

Sylas quickly reached the fence.

He shook the iron fence, finding it sturdy and tall enough.

The fence was 2.5 meters high, too high for a normal person to climb over, and even more impossible for zombies.

With tall buildings on both sides, no one could see Sylas here.

Sylas was very pleased with this location.

He decided to kill zombies here.

There were many wandering zombies outside the fence.

Sylas took out his gun and aimed at a zombie wandering outside the fence.

Bang.

Sylas fired.

The recoil was strong, making Sylas's body jolt.

The bullet missed.

He didn't hit the zombie.

Sylas was speechless. Fortunately, no one was around, or he would have been really embarrassed.

The gunshot attracted all the surrounding zombies.

Sylas took a deep breath and continued shooting.

The zombie that he had missed saw Sylas and charged at him with a grimace.

It recognized Sylas as a zombie too.

However, since Sylas was attacking him, the zombie got enraged and attacked Sylas in return.

This was the simple attack logic of zombies.

So, even though Sylas carried the scent of a zombie, once he attacked a zombie, he would be assaulted by them.

Sylas fired several shots, finally hitting the zombie, but without hitting its brain, the zombie wouldn't die.

Sylas stopped shooting, waiting until the zombie reached the fence and was blocked by it.

The zombie tried to attack Sylas, but with the fence in between, it couldn't reach him.

At close range, Sylas fired a shot, blowing the zombie's head off.

Sylas exhaled a breath of relief; he had successfully killed a zombie with a gun.

Shooting was truly a skillful task.

Not everyone could shoot accurately.

Especially for someone like Sylas, who had never used a firearm before, hitting the target was challenging.

However, guns were easy to master with practice, and Sylas could certainly improve his marksmanship with enough practice.

But this Desert Eagle was particularly difficult to handle.

Its strong recoil caused the barrel to jump upwards.

Thus, it was hard to hit zombies accurately.

Even with Sylas's strength, controlling the Desert Eagle was tough.

The Desert Eagle's main disadvantage was its significant recoil, making rapid consecutive shots difficult.

However, its advantages were clear: its large caliber and powerful shot could blow a zombie's head off with a single bullet.

Additionally, this unlimited ammo Desert Eagle didn't eject shell casings.

Firing it didn't produce ejected casings, which wouldn't interfere with subsequent shots.

By now, the surrounding zombies had gathered around.

Sylas realized his weakness: he couldn't hit zombies' heads from a distance.

Since the fence blocked the zombies, Sylas decided to shoot them at close range.

One shot per zombie, killing them with ease.
