Paige slowly stirred awake, feeling the warm body temperature beneath her and hearing the steady heart beating – she knew she was safe. Closing her eyes again, she wanted to continue slumbering when a deep voice quietly murmured in her ear,
"Awake?"
Paige raised her head with difficulty. Meeting light gray, clear eyes, her first thought was directly pushed out.
"You remember again?"
Lance had a pained expression on his face,
"No. I'm sorry." He stroked her head as if to placate her.
Paige sighed,
"It's okay." She rested her head again, sideways on his chest, before shooting back up,
"Then why are you here?" She asked, stunned. Wasn't she just the cousin he didn't like in his eyes?
Lance smiled,
"I have to show you something. Come with me to the study."
Paige nodded but didn't move. Besides her arms having already gone numb, she didn't lessen her hold.
