Chapter 87: 87. Gone

Meier lay stomach down on the carpet, staring at the fat cat before him. 

He had tried to make his own cats purr, but they would not. So he told Thirteen to bring him one that was friendly and loved patting, and it should not have been mistreated, with teeth and claws intact.

He had tried to pat the fat cat he had brought, but every time he tried it, the cat tilted her head to evade him. He was short on losing his patience, but then he thought of him having lost and how Paige mocked him.

So he settled to stare at her.

"Baby, just get rid of it if you don't like it." Maria stood in the doorframe and looked at her child tenderly.

"No, I want to make it purr." He said.

"Some of them do when you play with them, but not all."
