Chapter 34: 34. Door

The scene was in his favor, with them being badly hurt already. Lance was a dangerous person because he fought not only dirty but also like someone who had nothing to lose.

After another round of trashing, he was the only one still standing. Although he was already bloody himself, he took his time to punch the half-conscious people again and again. Now, he sat on top of the Hand Guy, letting his fist fall again and again on the face of the other. Lance himself was already in a frenzy.

[If you go any further, you will kill him.]

"What the fuck???" Lance stumbled off the guy, startled by the voice he heard in his head.

Looking around, he saw he was alone with his four bloody victims. He thought he had imagined it, but how could he mistake a full sentence?

As if to test, he kicked the Hand Guy again.

[The system will take countermeasures if the male lead does not conduct himself.]

"System? Paige's system?" he asked, astonished.

[....Yes.] The cold voice hesitated for a moment.

"What the fuck are you doing in my head?"

[The host was abandoned.]

Lance thought something had happened to Paige, and his face became menacing.

"What happened to her?" he asked in a voice that made the system shudder.

[The host was a disappointment since entering the world, making the male lead aware on the first day. Now... the system has given up on her, as she had given up on the storyline.]

"So, she is okay?"

[Yes...]

Lance got the answer he wanted and continued with his original plan. He collected the phones of the four guys and held their fingers respectively on their own phones to unlock them. After a bit of searching, he got what he wanted.

Not only did they like fresh meat, but they even liked filming themselves devouring it. In disgust, he looked at a few videos.

Making himself a drink, he let the alcohol cleanse him of this crap. He changed each one's password and turned off the GPS, pocketing the phones. Then, he positioned them together on the floor and pulled their pants down.

He shot a few pictures and went to the bathroom. There he cleaned himself up, ripped the buttons off his shirt, leaving it half open, and took the elevator downstairs. He put on a facade of being deeply traumatized and unsteady, then left through the main entrance.

A few waiters saw him; one of them said,

"Poor guy." They have already seen this picture all too often.

"But today they were so fast. Normally, they take the whole night. "

Another answered him,

"Maybe he was not to their satisfaction?"

After leaving successfully, he walked down the street, thinking about where to go in the future.

[The male lead cannot abandon the storyline.]

"Why can't I? Even Paige can," he snorted.

[But the male lead has already awakened; with this, he has become part of the actors and can be used by the system.]

"Don't want to."

The system was exasperated; why is everyone so uncooperative?

[The system will take countermeasures if the male lead doesn't go back and continue the storyline.]

"What? You wanna cut my body parts off?" Lance began to feel annoyed again and smiled chillingly. He was talking while walking and, on the side streets he took, there were not many people in the dead of the night.

[The system would not dare. A non-drastic punishment will be implemented.]

Lance heard a shrill sound in his head and crouched down.

"Fuck, what is this?" He breathlessly hissed.

[The non-drastic punishment.]

"STOP THAT"

The sound made his head pound; meanwhile, his injuries had poured out some more blood, and he should go somewhere to get stitched back together again. But he was not able to do anything or think of anything with the shrill sound.

[Will the male lead cooperate?] The system asked.

"Yes, yes, stop it!" Lance gave in. When the sound decreased, he scoffed and wanted to go back to his moldy place to sleep, but the system started implementing punishment again immediately.

Lance finally got really angry and cursed the system a thousand times in his head as he made his way to Paige's place.

When he opened the door, he was welcomed with the living room already fully lit; there were some empty bottles lying around. Left there were a ton of packages from online shops, some were openly scattered all over the living room with torn apart cardboards. Couch pillows were everywhere on the floor, a few ashtrays, used cutlery, and some undefined drawings of something that looked like anime fanart.

All in all, it was far from the place he had left two months ago.

"What the hell has she been doing these two months?" Lance massaged his temples, trying to ease his headache.

[And it has just been a week since the nanny caretaker came and cleaned up! Imagine how it would look without someone cleaning up!]

"The hell..." He commented.

[She did not even go out once! Paige is apparently a shut-in again.] The system finally found a person to vent.

The things she promised him ran through his head, and he snapped. Cursing loudly, he suddenly heard a lock spring into place.

[She just locked her room door.] The system added fuel to the fire.

"She just locked herself in the room after hearing me come in?" He asked unbelievingly.

He first thought she was not awake anymore and had just forgotten to turn the lights out.

[She left the light on around the clock; that's not good for nature either.]

The system cooperatively provided information.

Good, very good. Not only was she a fucking irresponsible adult, she gave up after two days of playing how many scenes? Two or three?

And while he was taking a bit of creepy pleasure at the thought that she was searching for him everywhere in worry, not only did she not do that — she even had fun by herself trying to do what, exactly?

He stomped up the stairs and rattled the doorknob, and it was really locked. Lance became more infuriated as he hammered on her door. Not only did she not do anything, she locked the door on him, and most importantly, she even dumped her fucked-up system on him? Then why come to this world in the first place?

"Paige! Open the fucking door and get your goddamn system back! NOW!"
