Chapter 2: 2. Mina

The fat girl gasped for breath after retracting her finger. Shakily, she took a plaster out of the pocket of her pants and put it on her finger.
He sat still across from her, eyeing her every move and crossing his arms.
After a bit, she felt better. "Can you come with me now? This isn't a good place to talk." She took the second 100-dollar bill and placed it on the desk, waiting.
After he finally nodded, she stood up, bringing him to a taxi. The driver didn't want the dirty boy in his car. But before he could complain, the girl shoved money into his hand through the open window. He quickly counted, and a smile bloomed on his face.
The two boarded the car, and she gave an address. They stopped in a high-end area before a skyscraper. The driver thought, 'So she is wealthy; what is she doing with a beggar?'
She took the boy to the elevator and pressed the 14th floor. They entered the apartment and he was taken aback. Before him was a vast space, decorated simply and modern, about 100 QM. The window front reached the floor. It gave a view over the city. On the right was the kitchen. In front was the living room. To the left were big stairs to the second floor.
She took him to the stairs and along a corridor. Then, on their right, the window front continued, and he stared outside, fascinated.
On the left side, there were three doors. She stopped at the third and opened the door without going in.
"Here is your room. If you'd like, you can live here from now on. Clothes are in the closet, and there is a bathroom inside. The house key is in the drawer with your new ID, household registration, money, and health card."
She looked at him blankly, "You don't have to worry about anything; we are a team from now on—if you like. Take your time, and let's talk a little later; I have to rest a bit." She turned around and walked to the first door. "Feel free to take anything you want; this is your home too." She mumbled and disappeared. He stared at her chubby back and heard the words 'we,' 'team,' 'home' repeating in his head.
He entered, confused. Furthermore, he opened the drawer she had pointed out.
There he saw documents he had never owned. There was even a school registration and a leaflet. Looking at them, it seemed to be a prestigious school.
Then he saw a simple black wallet, looking modern and stylish. He opened it and saw cash in it. He closed it, much more composed than an hour before, when he first looked at the money in her hand.
Then he saw a book. There was a note on it: 'Not this world, but a similar storyline; please read it when you have time.' He scrutinized the synopsis on the back.
{Mina got a system! She has to travel from world to world, helping the male and female protagonists fall in love. Let's start the journey to happiness together... But why is the villain of each world looking at Mina with strange eyes?}
"What is this..." he whispered.
When he opened the first page, there was a scribble with a pen: 'Mina = me; male protagonist = you.'
He had an inkling of where this would lead with all the information he had gathered until now, but first he had to shower. Looking through the closet, the clothes looked like good quality and were in the right size. He took them and got his first hot shower since what felt like forever.
