Chapter 12: I have three requests
Ilya crossed his arms, despite her being sent to jail she didn't seem to be angry about it.
Now she suddenly made a request to marry him.
He had a feeling he sending her to jail was part of her plan.
"Me? What could I possibly give you?"
Ilya freigned ignorance but he could think of the many reasons why she wanted to marry him.
"Because with you I'll gain the power to put certain people in their place. Besides your life can never go wrong when you have a highly skilled doctor like myself in your life.."
"And yet you couldn't save my mother..."
Xu Chenyao placed her hands on her hips and humphed.
"There was no saving her, i can't be blamed for that. Behcet disease is a very rare medical condition even harder to find a cure. By the way can you take me to her grave? I'd like to pay my respects, and not because she is going to be my mother-in-law but because she was my patient.."
Xu Chenyao opened the door and got inside the car, Ilya blinked as he got inside.
"You look awfully relaxed when you're getting married to the man you hate the most."
"Hate is a strong word mr. Novikov, but I would very much want to vent my anger on you until I'm satisfied. And that's what I'm going to do you, you'll think twice before ever hurting me next time.."
Ilya focused on the road not giving Xu Chenyao a glance but her words played over and over again in his head.
Xu Chenyao sighed as she began gathering her thoughts, she had spent 1 month in prison, that meant she was one month behind her schedule.
She would have to work overtime to deliver her orders of both last month and this month.
Xu Chenyao cried silently, she was terribly behind schedule.
"You can go without me.."
Ilya parked outside, if he went in there to see his mother grave, he would tear up and be sad for days.
He needed to go to work the next day.
"Alright, wait for me here.."
Xu Chenyao hugged the flowers and went into the graveyard, she didn't want Ilya to see her expression so she was a bit glad when he said he wasn't coming along with her.
Hinata's grave wasn't too hard to find, it was beautifully decorated with all her favorite things.
Xu Chenyao kowtowed, her eyes tearing up...this was the worst part of the job.
When the patient didn't make it.
"I'm sorry I couldn't save you, but I promise I'll take good care of your son if you give me your blessings to marry him. Even though I'm a country bumpkin I'm very talented so I won't be a burden to him. I'll also continue my best in treating as many people as I can. I pray in your next life..you can live a healthy life and happy life.."
Xu Chenyao wiped her tears as she placed the flowers on the grave and closed her eyes to pray.
When she opened them again, she felt a bit light hearted.
The other doctors say, crying when your patient dies is a normal thing and after some time you'd get used to it.
But it wasn't the case for her, she still cried and felt bad for days, she also had nightmares, terrifying ones where the patient made it out alive only to wake up to the reality that they're dead.
Ilya looked up when he heard footsteps, he raised his gaze and saw Xu Chenyao coming out of the graveyard.
Seeing her composure, he felt a nagging feeling in his chest.
"Are you okay?" He asked when she got close enough.
"I'm fine.."
Her voice sounded a bit hoarse, like she had just finished crying not to mention the tear stains on her face.
Placing his hand on her chin gently and wrapping his other hand around her waist. He pulled her close.
"Did you cry? Did you cry for my mother?"
Seeing Ilya's sincere gaze brought more tears to her eyes.
"I really wish I could save her.."
"Shush...shush.."
Ilya wiped her tears, he had always been in denial, always deceiving himself that his mother was going to be alright.
When in truth, she wasn't! But after her death, he felt he wouldn't be able to let go but he came to a realize that he had slowly did and was happy that she was in a better place.
"For some odd reason, I don't like to see you cry..."
Ilya brought out the handkerchief and placed it in her hand gently.
"I always reminded myself to tell you this if we saw each other again.."
Ilya paused taking a step back giving her her space.
"Thank you, thank you for trying your best."
Ilya bowed, his mother liked and trusted Xu Chenyao maybe that was why she didn't resist the medicines.
Xu Chenyao smiled and wiped her face, she stared at Ilya and raised her brows.
Maybe he wasn't so bad.
Ilya drove off, he didn't know why but he had decided he was going to marry this woman. Who know she might finally bring some excitement into his life.
"Would you really marry me?"
"Yes.."
Ilya nodded earnestly, maybe Xu Chenyao would be the right person for him.
"I have three requests, firstly we won't be living together, secondly no physical contact like kissing or doing the boombayah and lastly our marriage will be hidden, no one should no that we're married.."
"...."
Ilya blinked, she lost him at boombayah..what the f.ck was that supposed to mean?
"Do you agree to my requests?"
"If I fall in love with you, your second request won't matter to me.."
"..."
"You forget I'm a Doctor any funny business can cost you your life.."
Ilya chuckled he hoped one day he could take good care of her in bed.
"Then I have a request to make, if we fall in love with each, the requests will become null.."
"Ha! I doubt that would ever happen.."
Xu Chenyao's lips twitched, what she needed was his power, his body or love had no use to her.
"I doubt we'll be able to resist each other.."
