Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Beast's Point of View and a Father's Concern

Beast's POV

"Strong" was the perfect word to describe Leylin, the young boy currently observing me.

Although I had just been born, I had time to assimilate the information engraved in me by him.

I have no name. I was born with the sole purpose of guarding and protecting Leylin, my creator. But to be honest, I didn't care.

I was just grateful to no longer be in that perpetual darkness.

I could serve him if he really wanted, but the words spoken by the girl with glasses and the other creature's remarks convinced me that I needed to verify his qualifications.

But now, I've discovered something else during my fight.

I love fighting my creator. No, I mean I love fighting.

The sensation of risking return to that darkness really frightens me, but it adds spice. I feel like I'm... living.

*Bam* Sound of a broken tomb.

"Giving up... Beast?" he says, looking at me with an amused smile. I couldn't figure out who was the original among all the fakes created by Leylin, and he took advantage of it to attack me at the slightest sign of hesitation.

We were two against one, but the disparity in strength was just too great.

"Beast?" I say in a low voice. The sound of this name was strangely familiar yet unknown at the same time.

"You like it? It's your name. And you, the clever little one hiding and attacking me, your name is huntress," he says, blocking another arrow with a purple shield around him.

It seems that "huntress"was able to figure out who was real among all those created by him.

"Yes, I like it, but I haven't lost yet," I say calmly as I stand up.

In truth, yes, I had no chance of winning. I knew almost nothing about him except for the basic information he had given me, but he knew everything about me and huntress.

"Beast, attack him with all your strength, I have a plan!" shouted a voice behind me.

I had nothing to lose anyway. Originally, I was supposed to serve him, and in my defeat, I would just be doing my original job, but I wanted to see what huntress was capable of.

I started charging towards Leylin. He's the one who created a magic bubble when an arrow of light was shot at him.

I materialized many tree branches on my fist before attacking him. I was going to destroy his shield.

*Bein* Sound of broken glass.

"Not bad using pure brute force to destroy my shield, but that's not the real me," Leylin declared before receiving my blow and being thrown back.

Indeed, it wasn't him.

"Watch closely, Willow, you can do this too," Leylin declared right behind me.

"How..." I wanted to say more, but the situation had become more alarming for me.

I couldn't move anymore, my legs slowly starting to turn to stone and the process spreading all over my body.

"While you were charging at me, I traced this glyph on the ground with the help of my light illusions," he said, approaching.

Before he could come next to me, there was a flash of light coming from everywhere.

"You're not the only one who can use glyphs," declared a voice in a mocking tone.

It was huntress. She seemed to have asked for time to write glyphs around us.

Thanks to the light, Leylin's illusions disappeared, but strangely, I started to feel sleepy.

"You're excellent, but next time, you shouldn't be too focused on your plan," he said, pointing to the ground.

I hadn't noticed these flowers around us. I had been stupid to think there were only light glyphs among those thrown by Leylin to create his illusions.

"You're really too strong, master. You controlled the fight from start to finish," declared the girl with glasses as she approached.

That was the last thing I heard before passing out due to the smell of strange flowers.

...

Leylin's POV

"You're really too strong, master. You controlled the fight from start to finish," Willow declared excitedly.

I could see that I had impressed her during this confrontation against my two creations.

I just used three glyphs throughout the entire fight and telekinesis. I didn't need to be serious using abomination magic.

"Thanks, Willow. We should leave now before the noise from my fight attracts too many curious individuals," I said, signaling my abominations to pick up the two defeated ones to bring them home.

"Uh... professor, are you sure Mr. and Mrs. Blight will tolerate your inventions at their home?" Willow asked on the way. It seemed she hesitated to mention it to me.

"Don't worry, huntress and Beast are technically Palismans," I said with a smile.

I didn't lie. They were born from palistrom wood, and many Palismans have strange abilities and are very similar to the demons that inhabit the Boiling Isles.

"I see you've thought of everything," she said, nodding.

In truth, yes and no. I thought about creating Beast and huntress, but I hadn't anticipated that they wouldn't be cooperative.

It's possible that because of the palistrom wood, the two received the Palisman's ability to sense people's sincerity and therefore judged me inadequate as their master.

If that's the case, then it simply means that I don't really want to be their master or that I'm just not compatible with them.

"It's getting late, go rest and bring these two to the workshop with you," I said to Willow before sneaking off to my room.

...

*Knock knock* Sound of knocking on the door

"Damn, I haven't slept enough," I said, walking slowly to the door.

"Son, we need to talk," Alador declared with Beast behind him.

"I see," I said simply, sighing before letting Alador in.

"I caught this teenager in your workshop while I was looking for my tools that you borrowed, and he claims that you're his creator. Is that true?" he asked before sitting on the only free chair in my room.

"Yes, they're my Palismans. And where's huntress ?" I asked, not looking at my other servant.

"She's outside with your brothers and sisters," Beast said, curiously observing around him.

"If they're your Palismans, then why aren't they on a staff, and why are they so... alive?" Alador questioned, glancing at Beast.

"It would be long to explain, but I had to do some experiments, and this is the result," I said, clearly avoiding giving details.

Alador just looked at me before sighing and approaching to take me by the shoulders.

"I know you're a genius, Leylin. You have nothing more to prove to me, but avoid hiding things from me... okay?" he asked, looking me in the eyes.

"I'll do my best," I said simply. I didn't want to lie, especially not to Alador, preferably.

"I'll accept that for now," said Alador, getting up to head towards the door.

"Hey Beast, take good care of my son," he asked Beast with a sincere look.

"I've already promised to be his servant, so no need to worry," he replied with a slight smile on his face.

"I was worried you didn't have any friends, but in the end, you created one, haha!" Alador declared as he left.
