Chapter 57: Chapter 57: "Good Stuff" In The Car

Heath yawned as he crawled into the resting area of his food truck. He had just set the destination in the driver's seat but upon entering the resting area, he noticed something strange.

"What is this?" Heath looked bewilderedly at the bag in the food truck. His truck was parked in Officer Jenny's dormitory area and he never locked it, so he didn't know who had brought this in.

Curious, Heath opened the bag and saw some books. He took them out and recognized their titles immediately.

"Five Years of Driver's Exams, Three Years of Simulations," "Past Exam Papers of Viridian City's Driving Test," and "Ten Minutes: Even Slowpoke Can Learn to Drive." Three thick books, hefty enough to be encyclopedias, lay in front of Heath.

"Why do good things never happen to me?" Heath didn't need to guess who had left these; it was definitely one of the Officer Jennys, most likely Jana.

Rubbing his temples, Heath found that these textbooks and workbooks brought back painful memories of relentless studying and no physical education classes.

Resisting the urge to burn the books, Heath quietly put them back. Maybe if he pretended not to see them, he wouldn't have to read them?

Just as he put the bag down, Heath noticed another bag by his foot. This one blended with the color of the resting area's chair, so he wouldn't have seen it if he hadn't sat down.

"What's this now?" Heath picked up the bag, feeling its weight.

Inside, he found a portable little TV that could play CDs and DVDs. It seemed new, and there were a few discs underneath the TV.

After glancing at the discs, Heath put them back, deciding he would destroy them later. What kind of nonsense was this?

"Wow, Trainer, you have a unique taste~" Zorua, who was lying beside Heath, had also seen the discs and looked at him teasingly.

"Stop talking nonsense, they're not mine," Heath rolled his eyes. This must have been brought in by Officer Jana. That old rogue actually had such discs?

"But the women on these discs all have big chests. Is that your type?" Zorua tried to get a closer look, only for Heath to flick her on the forehead.

"Stop imagining things. How would I know that you shouldn't wear loose clothing while moving and bending over to pick things up, or that you need to be careful around neighbors? I also don't know what happens when a female teacher asks you to go to an empty office, right?" Heath nonchalantly threw the discs into the trash.

Zorua stared at Heath in confusion, clearly not understanding what he meant.

Without explaining, Heath went to the market after arriving. He bought all the ingredients he needed, then headed to his usual spot to set up before dawn.

"Farfetch'd, come and chop this beef," Heath called Farfetch'd, who eagerly picked up a knife and began slicing the beef.

Meanwhile, Heath washed the mint he had bought and started preparing breakfast.

Braised beef noodles were a breakfast specialty in some parts of Huaxia. Despite its name, if you weren't a connoisseur, you might not distinguish it from regular braised beef.

Braised beef, compared to regular braised beef, was softer but not mushy. The beef, soaked in broth, would burst with flavor upon biting, a true delight.

But that alone wasn't enough. A good bowl of braised beef noodles also required the right noodles. Heath chose Haole Ramen, a specialty in the Pokémon world.

These noodles were incredibly chewy. It was said that making fifty servings could exhaust a Machamp. The brand's logo was an exhausted Machamp, making it quite recognizable.

Chewy noodles, large pieces of beef, and fresh mint to enhance the flavor—a perfect breakfast was ready.

"Give it a try," Heath said with a smile, handing a bowl of beef noodles to Farfetch'd and Zorua, then standing by to watch.

"Delicious!" Zorua said, satisfied with the beef in her mouth. The aroma of the noodles and beef mixed together, the soft yet firm beef bursting with flavor.

Farfetch'd didn't even bother talking, eating his braised beef noodles in big bites, making Heath worry he might choke.

"Eat slowly, no one's taking it from you," Heath said, both amused and concerned. He took the sign and wrote today's special: braised beef noodles.

After both Pokémon finished their noodles, Heath washed the dishes and placed them in the sanitizer, patiently waiting for customers.

Since it was winter, it was still somewhat dark. Heath guessed the first customer would be Mr. William, who exercised daily regardless of the weather. Heath had even seen him out in heavy snow once. Mr. William had incredible determination.

"Pudding~ Pudding~" A soft voice interrupted Heath's thoughts. He looked down instinctively and saw a Jigglypuff trying to get his attention.

"Jigglypuff, are you here for breakfast?" Heath smiled at the Jigglypuff. How could he forget that she also frequently came for breakfast?

"Dummy, this one's name is Momo," Zorua jumped onto Heath's head and curiously looked at Jigglypuff below.

"Momo? That's a nice name. The usual today?" Heath asked, smiling at the Jigglypuff.

The Pokémon world was truly fascinating. Heath knew this Jigglypuff had a grand ambition—to become the most popular idol singer in the Kanto region. However, her progress was slow.

"Puff!" Jigglypuff held up a small bag. Heath took it, counted out ten one-League coins, and handed them back to Jigglypuff.

"Want to try the new breakfast?" Heath asked with a smile.
