After the blonde beauty finished her battle, she left with the little girl. Heath didn't approach them, knowing yesterday's scene didn't seem like something a normal person would do.
Unless at the moment the little girl appeared yesterday, a Gengar happened to snap its fingers, turning the girl to dust. Otherwise, that scene could only have been caused by Pokémon.
Heath watched several battles at the arena, gaining some battle experience, although most were amateurish. Still, there were some exciting matches.
The most captivating was between two young trainers: Charizard versus Blastoise. Charizard, despite the type disadvantage, defeated Blastoise and won the battle. Heath curiously glanced at Charizard's trainer.
A stranger's face, likely not an important character in the plot.
"Truly a hidden dragon and crouching tiger," Heath stretched lazily, thanked the security guard, and left the arena with his cart.
It was almost closing time. Heath decided to follow his routine, set up his stall to earn the last bit of money for the day, then rest at the dormitory.
Although Heath had planned his future path, he needed to save up money if he wanted to travel to other cities. Moreover, saying goodbye to Sister Maple made him genuinely reluctant.
"Heath, one order of egg, hmm? Have you introduced a new dish? Is the braised pork still available?" a pleasant voice approached. Heath didn't need to look up to know who it was.
"Ms. Lori, of course it's available. Would you like an order?" Heath smiled at the elegant and attractive woman before him.
Heath guessed Ms. Lori must be in her forties, but judging by appearance alone, she looked like a youthful beauty in her twenties.
Heath once tried to ask Ms. Lori her age and received a death stare. Her beautiful eyes made Heath break into a cold sweat even on a hot day. Then Ms. Lori delivered a classic line.
"Oh my, I'm forever eighteen~" This phrase sounded familiar to Heath. He remembered an elderly woman who claimed to be thousands of years old. Crossing over had its quirks; Heath decided it was better not to mention it.
"Of course, I'll take it! My daughter is finally home today, and I'm very happy~ So, give me two orders to go," Ms. Lori smiled happily. Even her smile was captivating, her eyes like a starry sky, enchanting.
Heath didn't hold any special feelings towards Ms. Lori. He knew she was a formidable figure.
Ms. Lori, the strongest investigator of the Indigo League, once defeated a large Pokémon hunting team with her six Pokémon. Since then, her name had resonated throughout the Indigo Plateau region.
Many attributed Viridian City's lowest crime rate in the entire Indigo Plateau to Ms. Lori, although Heath suspected it had more to do with the hills.
"Alright, one moment," Heath nodded. Ms. Lori had mentioned her daughter before, a skilled expert in Electric-type Pokémon in her twenties, aiming to challenge Lt. Surge and become the Electric-type Gym Leader.
However, Heath wasn't very optimistic about Ms. Lori's daughter. After all, hadn't Lt. Surge remained the Electric-type Gym Leader even after Ash Ketchum and Red embarked on their journeys?
Though skeptical, Heath kept his thoughts to himself, smiling as he prepared Ms. Lori's braised pork with rice and packed it in two containers. Ms. Lori didn't extend her hand, but a dark purple hand emerged from behind her, taking the boxes.
Heath nonchalantly took the money from the hand and casually played a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors with it, winning once again.
"Ghost!" Then a Gengar pouted, emerging from behind Ms. Lori with an aggrieved expression.
"Not my fault," Heath shrugged. There was always a Gengar behind Ms. Lori, who particularly enjoyed playing Rock-Paper-Scissors with him.
Despite often losing, it didn't stop Gengar from challenging him every time they met.
"Counting this time, Gengar, it's one hundred and twenty-seven to three hundred and forty-five," Heath noted with a grin, jotting it down in a small notebook.
Gengar looked disgruntled and floated away, intending to challenge Heath to another game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. However, before it could float away, it noticed Ms. Lori's 'kind' smile.
Gengar mumbled in dissatisfaction and slunk back, looking as wronged as a forty-kilogram fatty.
"Heath, can't you let Gengar win once in a while? Last time it went on a mission, it complained to me about always losing to you," Ms. Lori sighed helplessly, pinching her brow.
Ms. Lori now deeply regretted why she had agreed to let Heath and Gengar play Rock-Paper-Scissors. Up to now, Gengar was quietly studying the unbeatable strategy for Rock-Paper-Scissors.
Yes, there was a "Beginner's Guide to Rock-Paper-Scissors," an "Advanced Guide to Rock-Paper-Scissors," and "Rock-Paper-Scissors: The Way to Become a Master," all handwritten.
However, with these three small books, Gengar spent a full three thousand League coins, and he willingly did so.
This left Ms. Lori very dissatisfied. But seeing Gengar's face of 'I made it,' Ms. Lori didn't say anything.
Moreover, however Ms. Lori looked, she felt the handwriting in those three books on Rock-Paper-Scissors was not very similar to Heath's, only entirely the same.
"Hehe, I just threw it away. But I saw this unintentional winning technique in a book called "Rock, Paper, Scissors: The Secret of the Master." Heath said seriously, and Gengar popped out from behind Ms. Lori in an instant.
A pair of big eyes looked at Heath with desire.
Ms. Lori took a deep breath. This little profiteer!
If she didn't know that Gengar was willing to be fooled, and Heath also made compensation later, Ms. Lori swore that she would search Heath thoroughly to find out how much he had taken from her Gengar!
