Hearing that, Delilah glanced over her shoulder, her lips pressed into a thin line. "Yes," she admitted with a small shrug. "I don't want to hear anything serious right now."

She couldn't understand why he was so determined to tell her about it now after making a fool of her for weeks. She would rather the weight of the secret keep beating down on him and he remained uncomfortable.

Hunter sighed, pushing the covers off and swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "That's too bad," he said, standing up to face her. "Because what I have to say is serious. And I want you to hear it right now, he said stubbornly as he held her gaze.
