Chapter 199: Tired Of The Lies

Sabrina sat on the edge of Alex's bed, her fingers moving quickly over her laptop keyboard as she responded to email after emails and reviewed pending proposals and contract applications.

The soft glow of the screen illuminated her tired face, and she let out a small sigh. Every time she thought she was close to finishing, another message popped up demanding her attention.

Her mind, however, wasn't fully on the work. Thoughts of Alex kept interrupting her focus. Despite the manner in which he had blackmailed her into moving in with him, he had been surprisingly nice to her, offering her his bedroom and moving into the guest room.

He had made sure she had everything she needed. She wasn't used to this level of care from him since they both hardly ever got along. There was something different about the way he treated her— something softer.
