Chapter 23: Make It Friday

Hunter strode into his office with a buoyant step, feeling a sense of triumph. It was clear to anyone who walked past him that he was in a good mood.

Hunter liked that now he wouldn't need to worry about Delilah watching him go in or out of his company. He wouldn't even need to have his driver pick him up or take a cab. Why would he, when he would make sure Delilah did that herself?

The thought brought a chuckle to his lips, and he silently patted himself on the back for his clever plan.

Hunter's moment of self-congratulation was cut short when Fred cleared his throat to announce his presence. When he realized that he wasn't alone his easy smile vanished, replaced by a mask of seriousness.

"Good morning, sir," Fred greeted, his voice carrying a respectful timbre, since it seemed like Hunter had not heard him earlier.

"Good morning, Fred. I need you to quit your job," Hunter's tone was curt.
