Chapter 15: Arrival in Kassir City

Alan and his group finally reached the gates of Kassir City as the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the landscape. The towering walls and the impressive gate of Kassir City loomed ahead, dwarfing those of Tallian City. The guards, vigilant and stern, watched as the caravan approached.

The merchants and adventurers presented their IDs to the guards. After a brief inspection, they were granted permission to enter. The bustling city unfolded before them, with its wide, cobbled streets lined with towering buildings. Unlike the more modest structures of Tallian, Kassir boasted grand architecture, with intricate carvings and vibrant banners adorning the buildings on both sides of the road.

"This city is incredible," Felix said, his eyes wide as he took in the sights. "It's massive compared to Tallian."

Alameda nodded in agreement. "I've heard stories about Kassir, but seeing it in person is something else."

Shavin, ever observant, scanned the crowd. "Keep your wits about you. Bigger city means more trouble."

Alan walked alongside his companions, taking in the grandeur of Kassir. His usual calm demeanor belied his inner curiosity and excitement. "Let's head to the Adventurers Guild first," he suggested. "We need to report our arrival and get the merchants settled."

The Adventurers Guild building of Kassir City was a sight to behold. It stood three stories tall, its façade a blend of stone and wood with large, ornate windows. A huge sign bearing the guild's emblem hung above the entrance. Adventurers of all kinds milled about, their varied armor and weapons creating a lively, chaotic scene.

Alan and his group entered the building, greeted by the familiar but larger sight of adventurers gathered around mission boards, discussing strategies, and sharing stories. The noise was almost overwhelming compared to the guild in Tallian.

"This place is bustling," Shavin remarked, weaving through the crowd.

They approached the reception desk, where a middle-aged man with a stern face and a bushy mustache greeted them. "Welcome to Kassir City's Adventurers Guild. How can I assist you?"

"We've just completed an escort mission from Tallian City," Alan replied, showing his guild badge. "We need to report our arrival and collect our payment."

The receptionist nodded, taking their details and processing the mission report. "Thank you for your service. You can collect your payment at the next counter."

After collecting their payment, the group decided to unwind at the local tavern, a popular spot for adventurers. The tavern, named "The Silver Blade," was a large, lively establishment filled with the sounds of laughter, music, and clinking mugs. The air was thick with the smell of roasted meats, fresh bread, and ale.

They found a table near the back, where they could observe the room while enjoying their meal. Alan ordered a hearty plate of roasted boar with a side of vegetables, accompanied by a mug of spiced cider. Shavin, Felix, and Alameda quickly got into the spirit of the place, ordering drinks and sharing stories.

"This city is something else," Felix said, raising his mug. "Here's to new adventures!"

Alameda clinked her mug against his. "And to new friends!"

Shavin, already on his second drink, nodded in agreement. "Indeed. Alan, you're a quiet one, but you've got the skills to back it up. What's your story?"

Alan took a sip of his cider, savoring the warm, spiced flavor. "Not much to tell. Just trying to make a name for myself, same as anyone."

Felix laughed. "Well, you've definitely made an impression on us. That fight with the bandits was something else."

Alameda leaned forward, her eyes curious. "Do you ever get tired of all the fighting?"

Alan shook his head. "It's part of the job. Besides, every battle is a chance to improve."

The tavern's atmosphere was lively, with bards playing cheerful tunes in one corner and adventurers sharing tales of their exploits. The walls were adorned with trophies of past hunts and battles, giving the place a sense of history and camaraderie.

A server came by with another round of drinks and more food. The roasted boar was succulent, its skin crispy and the meat tender. The vegetables were perfectly seasoned, and the bread was fresh and warm. Alan ate heartily, enjoying the simple pleasure of a good meal after a long journey.

Shavin, his face flushed from the drink, looked around the room. "You know, we should make this a regular thing. Every time we complete a mission, we celebrate here."

Felix grinned. "I like the sound of that. What do you say, Alan?"

Alan, usually reserved, allowed himself a rare smile. "Sounds good to me."

As the night wore on, the group continued to share stories and laughter. Shavin and Felix tried to outdo each other with tales of their past exploits, while Alameda provided a running commentary that had them all in stitches. Alan listened more than he spoke, but his quiet presence was a steadying influence on the group.

The trio, thoroughly drunk, sprawled on the floor of The Silver Blade tavern. Their laughter had turned to incoherent mumbling as they slipped into a drunken stupor. Alan, still alert and sober, decided to leave them to their drunken dreams.

"Sweet dreams guys I hope you don't get robbed."

He stepped outside into the cool night air, taking a moment to adjust to the quiet after the tavern's rowdy atmosphere.

'People are really loud inside '

He looked around and noticed an inn across the street with a sign that read "Sanail Sower Inn." The inn looked modest, its exterior a simple wooden structure with a few lanterns casting a warm glow. Alan decided it would do for the night and walked over.

Inside, the inn was cozy but plain. The walls were adorned with simple decorations, and a few patrons were quietly chatting at small tables. Alan approached the counter, where a middle-aged woman with graying hair and a kind, if tired, expression greeted him.

"Good evening," she said, her voice soft but welcoming. "Welcome to the Sanail Sower Inn. How can I help you?"

"I need a room for four days," Alan replied, placing a small pouch of coins on the counter. "What's the price?"

The innkeeper, whose name tag read "Martha," glanced at the pouch and then at Alan. "That will be twenty silver coins in advance. It includes breakfast and dinner."

Alan nodded and counted out the coins, handing them over. "Sounds fair. I'll take it."

Martha took the coins and called out to a young worker who was sweeping the floor nearby. "Sophie, show our guest to room twelve."

Sophie, a girl of about sixteen with a shy smile, nodded and beckoned Alan to follow her. They walked down a narrow hallway lit by flickering candles, the wooden floor creaking under their feet. At the end of the hall, Sophie stopped and opened a door, revealing Alan's room.

'It's really dime here....'

The room was small and modest, with a single bed covered in a plain, brown blanket. A small wooden table and chair sat in one corner, and a window with thin curtains offered a view of the street below. A washbasin and pitcher were placed on a small dresser.

"It's not much, but it's clean," Sophie said apologetically. "If you need anything, just let me or Martha know."

"Thank you," Alan replied with a nod. "This will do just fine."

Sophie left, closing the door quietly behind her.

'That was a weird conversation.....' Alan had a weird feeling on his chest.

Alan set his belongings down and removed his long sword, placing it carefully against the wall. He unbuckled his armor, feeling the relief of shedding the heavy protection after a long day. He folded it neatly and placed it next to his sword.

Exhausted from the journey and the events of the day, Alan lay down on the bed. The mattress was firm but comfortable enough. As he stared at the ceiling, he thought about his new companions, the missions he had completed, and the challenges that lay ahead. Despite the simplicity of the room, Alan felt a sense of peace.

His thoughts began to drift, and soon, fatigue overtook him. Alan fell into a deep sleep, the sounds of the bustling city outside fading away as he rested in the humble confines of his room in the Sanail Sower Inn.
